S.P. Balasubrahmanyam, Chitra, Sailaja and Sri Krishna and the orchestra team have delivered a most promised distinct and memorable evening with Telugu music in the Bay Area on September 13, 2008. Bay Area Telugu Association (BATA) organized S.P. Balasubrahmanyam Telugu Musical Concert on September 13, 2008 at Chabot College Auditorium, Hayward, California. Ravi Tax Services and Raji Insurance have served as the Grand Sponsors of event. Also, this event was sponsored by Western Union, Channel Real Estate, and Swagat Indian Cuisine. Also, BharatFamily.com and Chimatamusic.net promoted the event.
Tickets for the musical extravaganza were almost sold out well in advance and the auditorium was full with all generations of audience. Vijaya Aasuri of BATA welcomed S.P. Balasubrahmanyam (SPB) onto the stage thanking him for giving BATA an opportunity to host his concert for the sixth time since 1997. In his introductory speech, SPB thanked BATA for hosting his team and he always enjoys coming to the Bay Area because of audience's love and encouragement that they have been receiving. Vijaya also introduced SP Sailaja, Chitra, Sri Krishna and the orchestra team on to the stage. Audience welcomes all artists with a big round of applause and excitement.
SPB and the team of his singers started the program with "vandEmAtam" song. Right after this, SP Sailaja sang "Om namaSSivAya" song from sAgara sangamam movie, which she in fact danced in the movie. Then, SPB sang "antA rAma mayaam" song from Sri Ramadaasu movie. Chitra started with a beautiful classical song (Thyaaga raaja keertana), "pADalEnu pallavainA.. bhAsha rAni dAnanu" from Sindhu Bhairavi movie. Sri Krishna sang Veturi's "yamahO nagari" song from chUDAlani undi movie. SPB mentioned that Sri Krishna is turning up as a nice singer and he wished Sri Krishna would sing many more songs in the near future. For Chitra’s song "yE SwAsa lO chEritE", SPB made a special mention that no other female singer would ever be able to sing it like Chitra. Then, SPB and Chitra sang "bangAru kODi peTTa" song from gharAnA moguDu movie. Other songs that were sung in the concert are "nAmpalli Station kADa rAjA lingO", “jallantA kavvinta kAvAlilE”, “telusA manasA”, “uppongE gOdAvari”, “yamunA teeram.. sandhyA rAgam”, “mounam gAnE edagamani”, “balapam paTTi bhAma vaLLO”, Jalsa Title song from Jalsa, etc. The final song in the concert was "antaryAmi.. alasiti, solasiti" song sung by SPB. SPB and his team thanked the audience and the organizers for this opportunity. For every song, the artists received a big applause from the audience. When SPB polled the audience to see if they need a break, audience chose to forgo the break to keep the music going. There was a lot of appreciation and applause by the audience for all the songs presented in the concert.
During his commentary and comments in between the songs, SPB praised several of prominent song writers and composers, such as Veturi, Ilaya Raja, SiriVennala SeetaRam Sastry & Keeravani, etc., describing them as a few very best Telugu music artists. He also shared his fond memories with music legends like “Mama” K.V.Mahadevan, S.P.Kodanda Pani, Satyam, Ramesh Naidu, J.V.Raghavulu, Rajan-Nagendra & Chakravarthy etc. During the show, SPB introduced his all of Orchestra members (Venu Raju, Bala Raju, Murthy, Swamy, Ravi Sankar, Alexander, Srinivas, Praveen, Chinna, etc).
Sri. Ravi Thiruveedhula, President of BATA, praised SPB and the artists for the great show. Ravi termed this event as a grand success, and thanked the audience, volunteers, and the sponsors of this event for the great support and teamwork. Then, Ravi introduced the BATA committee on the stage as Ravi Thiruveedhula (President), Prasad Mangina (Vice President), Srilu Veligeti (Secretary), Srinivas Kolli (Treasurer), Srini Mangipudi (Joint Secretary), Vijaya Aasuri, Kamesh Malla, Ramesh Konda, Venkat Malladi, Sireesha Battula, Veeru Vuppala, and Karun Veligeti. During this time, BATA presented appreciation of support mementos to all of the sponsors and promoters.
Vijaya Aasuri of BATA closed the concert by thanking the audience as well as SPB’s team for presenting such as nice and memorable concert that can be remembered for years to come.
The auditorium was filled with both younger and older generation. Several supporters such as Ravi Tax Services, Raji Insurance, Channel Real Estate, Western Union, Yasala Balaiah Art Gallery, Swagat Indian Cuisine, BharatFamily.com, Chimatamusic.net, Telugumatrimony.com, and Sankara Eye Foundation have setup their booths/tables at the event. The batik and acrylic paintings of Yasala Balaiah stood out as a special attraction in the exhibit hall. |
