Synopsis:
Jane (Katherine Heigl) is a professional bridesmaid. She is in love with her boss George (Edward Burns), but shies away from expressing her love. Meanwhile, her younger sister Tess (Malin Akerman) and George fall in love with each other. Kevin (James Marsden) is a columnist who covers weddings. He notices Jane and realizes that she is a professional bridesmaid who worked for 27 weddings with 27 different dresses. He plans to write an article on her and befriends her. The rest of the story is all about who ends up marrying whom.

What I liked in the film?

Katherine Heigl is excellent as the bridesmaid. She wins you over. The story woven around the life of a bridesmaid is interesting.

What I did not like in the film?

1. The slideshow sequence in which Jane mars the wedding of Tess. Though Jane does not like the manipulative attitude of Tess, the real reason why Jane did it was because Tess torn up the wedding dress of their mother. But in the reconciliation scenes that followed there were no references to the mother's wedding dress.

2. Confused characterization of Jane: There is no clarity in Jane's character and she appears confused all the time. The way she expresses her love to George and leaves him is not convincing.

The scenes I liked

1. Jane's friend slapping her when Jane murmurs I love you to her boss.
2. When a frustrated Jane goes to the other room of a bar to shout 'mother f*****r' and then realizes that she is in the middle of a couple's 50th anniversary party.
3. The final scene in which all 27 brides attending Jane's wedding to be her bridesmaids.
4. The titles rolling episode in newspaper reporting style.

Tailpiece:
The bride and journalist characters in this film do certainly remind us of 'The Runaway Bride'. And we have seen many romantic comedies in which journalism is a vital part – Roman Holiday, It happened in one night, Runaway Bride, The Hitch and many more.
