Synopsis:
Amanda (Cameron Diaz) is a movie trailer editor in LA. Amanda breaks up with her boyfriend who keeps sleeping with other girls. Iris (Kate Winslet) is a journalist in Surrey. Her love ends up getting engaged to some other girl from the same office. Amanda and Iris meet and home exchange website on internet. They agree to swap their houses for two weeks. The rest of the story is all about how Amanda and Iris find the right guy in Surrey and LA respectively.

What I liked in the film?
The basic idea of swapping houses for a limited period of time is pretty fascinating idea. The performances of main lead actors are awesome.

What is special about the film?
It is a formulaic chick flick. It is very predictable. The movie starts on a good note, but gets boring after half an hour. The movie insipid except for a few moments. Runtime of the film is more than two hours.

The scenes I liked in this film?
1. The scene in which Cameron Diaz tries to desperately cry after breaking up.
2. The scene in which Kate dances on the bed after getting up in the swapped house.
3. Cameron imagining her situations in typical ‘movie trailer’ style because she is a movie trailer editor.

The Holiday is an example of how a film gets boring if the director has more than one pair in a film and tend to do justice to these pairs in terms of footage instead of getting the genuine emotions out.
