Gudipoodi Srihari Review

tell a friend

Narayanamurthy in this film narrates how caste wars break out and takes its roll on Dalits. He plays Bheemudu, the champion of dalits and downtrodden, who fights the upper caste landlords, and symbolizes himself as Bheema of Mahabharata. Komaram Bhim Telangana and Bhim Rao Ambedkar-all in one. But for some absurd situations like the one in the end replaying the last episode of Mahabharata war, in which Bheema makes Duryodhana emerge out of waters and kills him, the film tries to stick to reality and even replays cast wars in real life, like the one in Karamchedu. The dialogue is well written.

Narayanamurthy conceived new methods of rendering appealing scenes, by playing up sentiment and bravery among the dalits. There are a number of roles, big and small, filled by from 'people's theatre'. Songs are appropriately used for situations. Vandemataram proves again a good hand at folk tunes.

He sang most of the songs. Raghunatha Reddy, Jayaprakash Reddy and the female lead, Aruna, offer impressive portrayals.
