Gudipoodi Srihari Review

tell a friend

Story

These days the presence of Srikanth with another lead artiste means a full-length comedy. Comedy themes are specially written for these combination actors as they are a safe bet at the box office. The very title of this film kicks up curiosity for it means `two men marrying a woman'. Here they are no Krishnas or Radha. Instead, we have Viswam (Srikanth) and Murugan (Prabhu Deva) maintaining a kind of blow hot and blow cold relationship, like two `quarrelling friends', vying for everything that matters to them - from a job to a girl.

Even their respective parents are no less in picking up quarrels over petty matters. These families live in two different portions of the same rented house .

Viswam and Murugan compete for the same job offered by a Hyderabad-based industrialist Buchayya (Tanikella). Buchayya prefers to have both of them to do the same job, as he finds complementary qualities in them.

He thinks both are useful to bag contracts. As Buchayya's daughter, Sasirekha (Namitha) is arriving, completing her studies, he asks the young men to go and receive her. From this point, a different kind of competition commences. Each plans his approach to make her show aversion to the other. At a stage, Sasirekha starts liking both for different reasons. And both want to marry her together. She responds positively to this proposition.

This kicks up a furore in all the families. How can two men marry the same woman is the topic of discussion. On the other hand, Buchayya has his own plans. He wants his daughter to marry Balaraju (Sunil) just returned from abroad along with his friend (Brahmanandam).

Viswam and Murugan have two objectives in mind - first to eliminate Balaraju from this competition and then to make her father accede to this marriage. How this riddle is finally solved forms the climax with an element of suspense thrown in. This is more of a situational comedy built over the idea of two men proposing to the same girl and the latter responding to both positively.

Even the way a solution is found to this silly, polygamous proposition is equally disappointing. A bit of situational humour comes to the rescue.

An occasional element of surprise in the battle of wits between Viswam and Murugan keeps the tempo going. Srikanth and Prabhu Deva make a good combination. Prabhudeva also adds his dancing talent to the song part. Chakri's music score is adequate in the film.
