At times, frivolous issues form the base for a comedy. This
film's theme is too based on one such 'non-issue' and revolves
around an astrologer belief that the hero entertains.
Sastry
(AVS), an astrologer, predicts that the girl who marries Sriram
(Venu), will die during child birth. A shocked Sreeram decides
to stay a bachelor, because his mother too, dies after delivering
him, as predicted by the astrologer. He starts countering
all the moves by his father (Kota Srinivasa Rao) and elder
brother (Chandra Mohan), who is childless, to get him married.
Thus,
the first part of drama takes care of the humour aspect with
Sreeram trying to avoid marriage. But, he is finally hooked
by Sruthi (Sruthi Raj). She does not mind marrying him even
when he declares that he has an affair with someone else.
Sruthi appreciates his frankness, and decides to marry him
so that she can reduce her father's (MS Narayana) burden.
Soon Sruthi becomes a pregnant.
Meanwhile,
sruthi's younger sister (Geethu) falls in love with someone.
When he goes abroad, she realizes that she is pregnant. So,
pretending to be leaving for the States, she stays away from
the family, in the same time, with the help of Sreeram. Indrajit
(Ali), who aspires to marry one of the sisters but loses both,
plays a comic villain adding to the humor vein of the drama.
All
characters converge at a hospital, to where Sruthi is admitted,
following an accidental fall. Sriram wants to save her life
by seeking a divorce.
The
entire drama comes to a grinding halt when the doctor (Chalapati
Rao) announces the birth of twins and that Sruthi is safe.
Ironically, the astrologer Sastry dies almost at the same
time in an accident.
The
strength of the film is its dialogue by Marudhuri Raja and
his associates, which is the main vehicle of humor. Comedy
is EVV's forte and director seems to be comfortable.
Three
films old Venu graduates into some refined acting, but has
yet to improve (n scenes involving expression of extreme emotions
like shock and disappointment).
Sruthi
Raj suits the role of a girl beset with family problems, perfectly.
MS Narayana as the girls' father, and Ali as his nephew take
care of the comedy part. Kota Srinivas and Chandra Mohan are
at their best.
Brahmanandam,
Mallikharjuna Rao and AVS are set in a desperate comedy track.
Music by Koti and photography by Navkant add to the general
appeal of the film.
