Idlebrain.com
is proudly announcing a series of articles on the evolution
of Telugu movie theatres from 1921 to the current date. Mr.
Vijaya Bhaskar, an ardent fan of Telugu movies, provides
the content in these articles. We have chosen this time period,
as we believe this is a highly significant period in the history
of Telugu cinema. It was the period that saw the rising of
the first generation stars like NTR, ANR etc. Each article
will cover a theatre and the successful movies run information
and box office fate at those theatres.
Reminiscence
of Maruthi Talkies @ Vijayawada
Maruthi
is the first permanent theater in Vijayawada as well as in
Andhra Pradesh and was constructed in 1921. Pothina Srinivasa
Rao is the proprietor for this theatre. This theater was a
prominent theater in Vijayawada up to mid 60s.
Navayuga
distribution films and Rajashree (East India) distribution
films were released for most part of time in this theater.

are the few firsts in its credit
1. It
is the first permanent theatre in Andhra Pradesh.
2. The first color film ever produced by Telugu film industry
Lavakusa, is screened in this theatre.
3. The first film of Shobhan Babu as a hero Veerabhimanyu,
is screened in this theatre.
4. The first title role film of hero Krishna Gudachari
116 was screened in this theatre.
