Telugu
film industry witnessed around 120 straight film releases.
12 out of these 120 (10%) films were inspired by Hollywood
and Bollywood films. These inspirations range from taking
the concept to copying scene by scene. Producers of some of
these films did not even announce officially if they had acquired
rights or not. Among the successful ones in this list Varsham
went on to become a huge blockbuster because the main thread
of Tezaab was well adapted in Telugu without missing the soul.
Malliswari also became a hit with feeble inspiration
from old Hollywood classic 'Roman Holiday'. Andaru Dongale
Dorikithe (inspired by Excess Baggage) turned out to be
a safe film. All other films turned out to be flops.
