My Reactions to Reactions

ram gopal Varma

15 October 2009

1. Why do you contradict everything we say?
Ans: Just for the heck of it.

2. If you are against committed relationships like marriage isn’t even making movies a committed relationship with the audience?
Ans: Hello, unlike in marriage you don’t have to sleep with the audience under the same roof and hear them talk.

3. Any idea of making a movie like “America’s Sweethearts”?
Ans: I am more into Hot chicks than into sweethearts.

4. I like your philosophy… but I will never follow it.
Ans: Great, as that is that much less competition for me.

5. What is the necessity of sex in movies?
Ans: What is the necessity of anything at all unless someone wants to give it and someone wants to take it? Me and guys like me will go watch sex in movies and you and guys like you can do bhajans.

6. I am quite disappointed to know that you haven’t finished “Thus Spake Zarathustra”.
Ans: Don’t believe everything I say as most of the times I just say things for effect.

P.S: This answer could be for effect too.

7. Why aren’t there any flashbacks in your movies?
Ans: I don’t like looking back.

8. On 5th October 20 years back people saw your name for the first time in theatres. How did you feel when you saw their reaction to the film?
Ans: I never saw “SHIVA” in the theatre.

9. Ramuism is both similar and non-similar to objectivism. Therefore it is all isms and no isms.
Ans: My dear Jaani, that’s the point I always keep trying to thrust into that super thick head of yours and those of most of your mates in here. The point of my ism is to study everything seriously and not to take anything seriously.

10. Are you proposing a new philosophy called “Ramuism”?
Ans: I don’t propose. I practice.

11. What was the turning point of your thought process?
Ans: When I realized sometime during the course of my engineering 3rd year that having a beer and visiting a striptease joint is far more pleasurable than studying or visiting a temple.

12. For the kind of wisdom you seem to have, you must have gone through lots of hardships.
Ans: The opposite is true as only when you don’t feel the hardships can you analyze the situations and attain wisdom. People who feel hardships just get bitter, frustrated and live in misery.

13. Do you rate Ayn Rand higher than Dostoevsky?
Ans: I don’t know whether Dostoevsky is a he or a she or what he or she did and Vaishak, I want to give you a piece of unsolicited advice which is basically against my nature. “Don’t fucking take life so seriously and just chill with a beer or pepsi or a limejuice or whatever you prefer and if you feel being with a woman is too much of a headache or hard work just watch porn”.

P.S: To tell you a secret only by doing what I suggested above is how I managed to get to the bottom of all the philosophies of the world in the context of their true and effective application to the practical aspects of life.

14. Your quotes sound similar to Swami Vivekananda. Did you go through his works?
Ans: I have never read Indian philosophers as from whatever I heard of them almost all of them have taken off from a half fried understanding of the western philosophers. Their very attire like robes, headgear etc and titles like babas, swamis and yogis prove that. Just imagine Swami Ayn Rand and Baba Nietzsche.

15. When you answered a particular question saying “If you go deep into anything it will always give you pleasure” what was on your mind?
Ans: The same thing as what was on your mind.

16. Have you ever loved a woman?
Ans: I love the species.

17. I personally think Atlas Shrugged is a better example of Ayn Rand’s objectivism compared to the Fountainhead.
Ans: Fountainhead is the theory and Atlas Shrugged is its application and hence they can’t be compared.

18. I think your 5 favourites are Films, Friedrich, Fountainhead, Females & Fire Water.
Ans: More or less but, what is fire water?

19. Should a person start regretting about a thing, which meant a lot to him in his life for decades?
Ans: To realize that one has been believing in some things wrongly is highly possible but it takes a lot of courage to admit that to oneself. The immediate examples of this phenomenon which come to my mind are the career options one chooses, and the person they choose to marry.

20. The only underlying reality of life is probability.
Ans: No it’s not Probability. It is Possibility.

21. I love you because you fucking live for yourself and not for society.
Ans: I make love for myself and I fuck for society.

22. Chaplin would never have become successful in a 24 F.P.S film – RGV.
RGV would have never become successful in an 18 F.P.S film – Chaplin.
Ans: Ha Ha Ha Ha

23. We are expecting a lot from “Rakta Charitra”.
Ans: I swear on the blood that flowed in Rayalseema that “Rakta Charitra” will be better than your expectations.

24. It’s hard to come across a more brutally honest person than you.
Ans: That’s because I realized that the bestest way to achieve anything is only by being brutally honest.

25. I keep deciding not to come to your blog but I can’t resist its combo of sensation, titillating excitement and it also fans my voyeuristic tendencies.
Ans: Well, now that you said it I think I am quite like sex. You can enjoy, detest, debate the productive and destructive traits, be embarrassed, look down upon, but you can’t resist.

26. How does one convert a story into a screenplay?
Ans: Don’t get caught up in the technical aspects. If you want to be truly original just write it the way want it to be played on the screen.

27. Vijay directs.
Ans: I would like to know if you are a music director.

28. I want to explain to you the meaning of God.
Ans: Chill dude. God himself could not do that. What will his flops like you do?

29. Your actions are very consistent but your reactions are not.
Ans: That’s because actions come before the fact and reactions come after the fact. Actions come from an idea and reaction comes from its after effect.

There is many a slip between an idea, its execution, the realization and an outside perception of the ideas realization.

30. What if you had a chance to meet Gandhi, Castro, Hitler, Marx?
Ans: I won’t waste my time meeting them. I will use it to study their ideas and actions.

31. Your background music is creating a monotony.
Ans: That’s my kind of music. Take it or leave it.

32. Why are you so arrogant? You can’t know every thing in the world?
Ans: I know everything that I know and what I want to know and what I don’t know I will not know that I should know and the day what I didn’t know I will know that too, which is what I meant when I said that I know everything that I know and what I want to know.
