13th September: Guntur Gudumba Records

Record One: 120 shows
Gudumba Shankar is going create unique record in Guntur city by exhibiting 120 times in 7 days of its release. This film would be running for 7 days in 4 theaters with 4 regular shows which make the count as 112. Eight shows were held in other theaters as benefit shows.

Records Two: 5 regular theaters on day 1
Gudumba Shankar scored unique record when this film was released in 5 theaters with regular shows and one theater with benefit shows. These theaters are Naz Deluxe, Naz Apsara, Krishna Picture Palace, Little Krishna, Liberty and Swamy. Chiranjeevi's Mugguru Monagallu holds the earlier record for highest number of theaters by releasing in 4 regular theaters.

Record Three: 11 lakhs share on day one
Pawan Kalyan's Gudumba Shankar collected a share of more than Rs. 11 lakhs on the day one in Guntur territory. Gudumba Shankar is expected to break the city record for the first week as well.

Record Four: 1 crore advances
The craze for Gudumba Shankar is such that the exhibitors of Guntur territory paid more than Rs. 1 crore as advance. This film was released with 14 prints in Guntur. 3 MROs (Mandal Revenue Officers) had to supervise the ticket selling in the city with innumerous cops hired for the job. There had been tremendous pressure on theater's management with MLAs and Ministers (from Guntur District) recommending for more number of tickets for their loyalists. There was a huge traffic jam in the city. The DSP of Guntur city had to personally supervise the traffic.

7:45 am: 2nd half story from Tirupati

Second half story of Gudumba Shankar
Pawan Kalyan joins Meera Jasmine's house as wedding planner by blackmailing Brahmanandam. He starts foiling all attempts and business deals of Asish Vidyardhi. The second half is all about how Pawan Kalyan foils the wedding of Meera Jasmine and Asish Vidyardhi. Finally Pawan Kalyan marries Meera Jasmine.

3rd Song: Chilakamma Mukkuki: It's a marriage song where Asish Vidyardhi is being made as groom.

Six theaters in Guntur
Gudumba Shankar would be having shows in six theaters of Guntur. The main theater is Naz. The side theaters are Swamy, Liberty and Little Krishna. There would be benefit shows in Krishna Picture Palace and Naz Apsara as well. The benefit show was started at 6 am.

6:15 am: 1st half story from Tirupati

First half story of Gudumba Shankar
The film starts with Pawan Kalyan pretending to be a police officer and robbing bribes from everybody. Ali is Pawan Kalyan's assistant. Kota is the real cop and he helps Pawan Kalyan in the drama and gets a share in Pawan's earnings through the guise of cop. After Pawan kalyan's real identity as a fraudster revealed, he is sent to Vizag for security purpose.

One his way to Vizag, he meets Meera Jasmine. Later on he founds out that Meera Jasmine ran away from her house. He takes her back to her house. There he realizes that she is about to get married to Asish Vidyardhi. Meera Jasmine expresses her love to Pawan Kalyan.

Asish Vidyardhi has a weakness of trusting the purohit Brahmanandam for muhurtams etc. Pawan Kalyan observes that Brahmanandam is philandering with the vamp Jyothi. Now Pawan Kalyan decides that he would straighten up things with Asish Vidyardhi by using the jyothishyam of Brahmanandam.

1st Song: Lelele - a message oriented song in the lines of ye mera jahan and I am an Indian

2nd song: Killi Killi - a dhaba song with Natanya Sigh playing the guest role

3rd Song: Chiguratu chaatu chilaka - a class song on Meera Jasmine and Pawan Kalyan. This song comes when stay in the same room.

5:30 am: NJ show started

Tirupati show to starts at 5:30 am
The special preview show of Gudumba Shankar in New Jersey started at 5:30 IST amidst huge fanfare. The Telugu movie lovers in New Jersey are watching a Telugu film that is sent from Hyderabad even before Hyderabad movie lovers watched it.

4:30 am: 10th September 2004

Tirupati show to starts at 4:30 am
The benefit show of Tirupati would be starting at 5 am. This 5 am show would be exhibited in all five theaters of complex (Pratap, Mini Pratap, Rama Raju, Teja and CVS). The benefit show was expected to start at 12 midnight. But the prints of the film arrived late. It's been raining heavily in Tirupati throughout the night.

3.75 crores for Ceded area
Gudumba Sankar movie rights for Ceded area were bought by Siddi Vinayaka Films which has distributed Pawan's previous movie Johnny. As per the news, they paid 3.75 crores for the Rayalaseema area. GS is releasing in 50 centres of Ceded area. Movie has got very good business at Ceded and in Kurnool movie was bought by one Pawan fan Suresh Babu for a fancy amount of 30 lakhs. In Kurnool movie is getting released in the following 4 theatres - Venkatesh, Raj, Sreenivasa and Bharath.

8:30 shows in Hyd city
Hyderabad city is got afflicted to the virus of benefit shows. Lots of theaters in Hyderabad are showing benefit shows of Gudumba Shankar from 8:30 am onwards. Hitec theater is going to have the first benefit show in city, which would start at 7 am.

GS Release in USA on 9th Sep
For the first time in the history of Telugu cinema, a film is releasing overseas a day in advance compared to the Indian counterpart's release. KAD distributors (USA) are going to have a special preview show of Gudumba Shankar at 8 pm on 9th September at Clearview Cinemas, New Jersey.

Pawan has done it again with Gudumba Sankar
Even after the dismal performance by his previous movie Johnny, Pawan Kalyan come back with vengeance with his Gudumba Sankar. In Guntur area it is said that the GS movie was sold for 1.38 crores to Global Film Distributors. For starters Global Distribution agency is one of the biggest distribution firms in Nizam area. Though the distributor does not have many contacts with local exhibitors and third party hirers surprisingly, he was able to get advances in tune of 95 lakhs which was extraordinary compared with the current lull in the trade. Global Film distributors are planning to release GS movie at 13 centers, one more center is yet too finalized.

E-Seva centers are used for Ticketing
Those days are gone, where people had wait in long serpentine queues and got beaten up by the police for grabbing their favorite hero movie ticket. Now a days distributors and police department using technology for making the things different and better and there by serving people effectively. For the first time, Guntur area distributor was using E-Seva centers as franchise centers, where the tickets can be sold. Already 5 days tickets were sold out at E-Seva centers. This is an opportunity for white collared people to get the tickets with out much hassle.
