Shiva 2006 - a tribute to Akkinenis
It is Nagarjuna Akkineni and Venkat Akkineni who recognized talent in Ram Gopal Varma and gave him a chance to direct Shiva. And the rest is history. After 17 years, Ram Gopal Varma made a sequel to Shiva with ‘Shiva 2006’. Ram Gopal Varma want to honor Akkinenis on this occasion. He personally met Nagarjuna today morning to extend an invitation to the audio function of Shiva 2006 which is expected to be held on either 11th or 12th of August. Nagarjuna gave his consent to be the chief guest of the occasion. All Akkinenis and the cast and crew members of Shiva are expected to grace this occasion to relive the past. This function will take place at Hotel Marriot (for the starters Marriot group took over Hotel Viceroy).

Allu Arjun to launch Hanuman audio
Allu Arjun will launch the audio of Hanuman to be held on the morning of 1st August. He would give the first cassette of Hanuman to music director Devi Sri Prasad. This function will take place at State Art Gallery. Times Music bought the audio rights of this album. Hanuman is all set to release on 4th of August.

Haresh Shankar to direct Siddardha’s Aata
Haresh Shankar who made his debut with Ram Gopal Varma’s Shock is going to direct his second film with Siddardha as hero. This film will be produced by MS Raju. Incidentally MS Raju announced a film titled Aata with Venkatesh as hero. But story of this Aata is going to be different as Haresh Shankar penned the story. Shooting of this film will start on 1st of September and will be released for Sankranthi 2007.

Kona Venkat into direction
Kona Venkat who penned dialogues for huge projects like Samba, Balu, Okariki Okaru, Bunny, Andarivadu etc is going to make his debut in direction this year. He has a script for Telugu and Hindi each. One of these scripts will be converted into film by this year end. Kona Venkat also worked as executive producer for RGV corporation.

Interesting Game on Hanuman
As part of the innovative promotion strategy of the film Hanuman - Jai Bajarangabali, the official website of of the film http://www.megahanuman.com has an interesting game on Hanuman. In this game the little Hanuman has to collect 15 golden apples without bouncing into flying boulders to reveal a hidden link. By playing this game the browsers can access hidden links which will provide additional information about the film and also takes them to the sections which provide wallpaper downloads and viewing of trialors.

Bommarillu on 9th August
Siddardha’s 3rd direct Telugu film Bommarillu is all set to release on 9th of August. Producer Dil Raju wanted to release the film on 5th July earlier. He had to postpone it because Mahesh Babu’s industry hit Pokiri is completing 100 days on 5th August. Genelia doing heroine role. Debutant Bhaskar directs this film. Dil Raju is producing Bommarillu after delivering three continuous blockbusters Dil, Arya and Bhadra. Devi Sri Prasad scored music.

Dasari buys Game Nizam and Vizag rights
Dasari bought distribution rights of Vishnu - Mohan Babu combination film Game for Vizag and Nizam territory. His distribution wing ‘Siri Media Pvt. Ltd.’ will take care of this. Game is all set to release on 4th of August. Sobhana and Parvati Melton are paired up with Mohan Babu and Vishnu respectively. G Ram Prasad (Chirunavvutho fame) directs this film. Joshua Sridhar composed four songs for this film.

Hanuman audio on Times Music
Times Music, the audio wing of the Times Group ventures into Telugu Audio Market with Hanuman (Jai Bajarangabali). Times Music has been very choosy in releasing audio in the regional market. The audio of Hanuman Jai Bajarangabali is seen as a prestigious entry into Telugu as it has none other than Megastar Chiranjeevi lending his voice to the Hanuman character. Hanuman already being a successful film in Hindi Mr.Chiranjeevi dubbing for the Telugu version has generated tremendous excitement amongst the industry circle and the general public.

Great Movies acquires Stalin for Aus & NZ

Shiva 2006 rubs the cop in a wrong way
Ram Gopal Varma is always known for promoting his films in an aggressive style. He came up with the caption ‘Policule Nerastulaithe’ for Shiva 2006. When posters of this film were splashed in main centers of Hyderabad a couple of weeks ago, the cops removed all of them for that controversial caption. RGV Factory has gone to Telugu film producer’s counsel and censor board and get this caption approved. RGV Factory is going to paint the entire Hyderabad red with these posters. If anybody object, RGV is planning to move to the court. Just like Shiva who revolts against corruption and goondaism in students, Shiva 2006 revolts against corruption in police system.

Gowtam Menon for Surya - RGV film
We mentioned in the last month Ram Gopal Varma is going to produce a trilingual film with Surya (Ghazani fame) as hero. Gowtam Menon is going to direct this prestigious project that is going to be made in Tamil, Telugu and Hindi. Jyothika would act as executive producer. More details later.

Hope premiere on 13th August
Rama Naidu - Kalyani combination film Hope that deals with suicide is going to be released in the next month. Satish directed this film. Producer Haranadh Policherla (Alex fame) is organizing a huge premiere in Prasads Multiplex at 10:30 am on 13th August. The bigwigs of Telugu film industry are expected to this premiere.

Cherry to produce Yeleti film
Cherry will be producing Chandra Sekhar Yeleti (Aithe and AOR fame) next project with Gopichand as hero. He would be producing this film on ‘Clap Entertainment’ banner. Cherry worked as executive producer for Varma Corporation and Raja Mouli in the past. All the films he worked as executive producer - Money, Gulabi, Anaganaga Oka Roju, Chatrapati and Vikramarkudu - are hits. He also distributed Anukokunda Oka Roju and Chatrapati in USA on ‘Weekend Films’ banner. This film will have MM Keeravani scoring music. More details later.

Amma Cheppindi prints dispatched
Amma Cheppindi film is all set for worldwide release on 28 July. The prints have been dispatched from Prasad Labs by afternoon. This film has obtained U/A certificate. This film is releasing with 32 prints. Amma Cheppindi is releasing in Chennai tomorrow and in Bangalore a week after. This Gangaraju Gunnam directed film is having good craze among city crowds.

Tax holiday for Tamil titled films
Tamil government has recently passed a GO allowing all Tamil films titled in Tamil language to be eligible for tax holiday. Generally, the exhibitors are supposed to pay a tax of 14% on the gross collections in their respective theaters. They don’t have to pay that tax if the film they exhibit any film titled in Tamil.

Lawrence’s Muni
After proving himself as able and competent director with Mass and Style, Lawrence is coming up with another two lettered title film - Muni. This Tamil film has Lawrence, Raj Kiran and Vedika doing main leads. There are fair chances for this film to be dubbed and released in Telugu.

The Telugu film industry went through a period of lull during Ashadhamasam that ended today. During Ashadamasam, most of film industry people stay away from organizing film related functions, muhurats, audio launches etc. Starting from tomorrow (27 July, 2006), Film Nagar is going to witness many functions as Sravanamasam is very auspicious.

Chiru - Paruchuri combo no. 25
Stalin film is the 25th film in the combination of Chiranjeevi and Paruchui brothers. Paruchuri Brothers penned dialogues for a Chiranjeevi film for the first time for Roshagadu film. This film has Trisha playing female lead. Muruga Doss directs this film. Mani Sharma provides music.

Game audio on 27 July
Audio of Mohan Babu’s Game will be released at a function to be held at State Art Gallery, Kavuri Hills on the night of 27 July. This film has Mohan Babu and Vishnu playing roles of competitive nature. Parvati Melton (Vennela fame) is paired with Vishnu. Joshua Sridhar scored the two songs of this film. These two songs and the soundtrack of Game will be released on 27th July.

SV Krishna Reddy to direct an English film
SV Krishna Reddy is going to direct the remake of his Telugu blockbuster Ahwanam in English. CC Reddy (of Visu Consultants) is so much inspired by the story of Ahwanam that he came forward to produce this film in English in the direction of SV Krishna Reddy. CC Reddy’s present production Roommates is due for the release on 11th August. He is also producing Mee Sreyobhilashi (a film that deals with suicide) with newcomers.

Andala Ramudu on 11 August
Sunil’s debut film as hero Andala Ramudu is all set to release on 11th of August. The producer is planning to do audio launch on 27th of this month. Arti Agarwal is paired up with Sunil in this film. This film got delayed because of Arti Agarwal’s injury. SA Raj Kumar scored music. Deepti makes his debut with this film.

Kiran Tej as Brahma
Kiran Tej made his debut as hero with Yuvakudu in this year. He is currently acting in a film titled Brahma. 70% of the shooting is over. Producer is planning to release audio in August. Brahma will be released in September.

Ravi Teja started his career along with creative directors like Puri Jagan and Krishna Vamsi. These two directors are his best friends. It was Krishna Vamsi who gave Ravi Teja a break as hero with Sindhuram and it was Puri Jagan that made Ravi Teja a star with Idiot film. Hanuman on August 4th
Award winning animation flick Hanuman is being dubbed in Telugu by Hyderabad Innovatives. This project is in limelight because Chiranjeevi narrated the entire film by rending his voice to an outside film fulltime for the first time. Prakash Raj as 80-year old villain in Stalin
Director Muruga Doss told in an interview that Prakash Raj is playing the role of an 80-year old villain in Stalin film. He would be donning a special get-up in this film. There are four action episodes and one huge chase in Stalin. Shooing of climax of the film is currently going on. Chiranjeevi and Trisha play main leads in this social film.

Prabhas as Mahadev

Popular lyricist Kula Sekhar who made his debut with Chitram film is making his debut as film director now. He has chosen title of a song in ‘Muthyamantha Muddu’ film. The title is ‘Premalekha Raasa’ with a caption ‘neekandi vuntadi’. Venu - son of producer Mallidi Satyanarayana Reddy (Bunny and Bhageeratha) is making his debut as hero. Anjali is doing female lead. Sreeram Kaushik who worked with Mani Sharma and RP Patnaik in the past is scoring music. 60% of the shooting is complete so far. Writer Janardhan Maharshi who provided stories and dialogues in the past is going to direct a film soon. This film will have Allari Naresh and Arti Chabria playing main leads. Ashok film releasing amidst fanfare
NTR’s Ashok is releasing on 13th with lots of fanfare. The midnight shows are already started in Ceded centers like Kurnool and Kadapa. In Hyderabad, the first show will be screened at 6 am at Kukatpally (Bramarambha and Mallikharjuna) and Moosapet (newly constructed Sreeramudu) followed by 8:45 am show at Prasads Multiplex.

Chandra Siddardha who directed award winning film Aa Naluguru is going to direct a film for Suresh Productions banner. D Rama Naidu will produce it. This story of this film is based on a novel written by Ramani. This film will be launched in the month of August.

FM is the latest addiction of Hyderabad city. AIR (All India Radio) launched Rainbow FM (101.9) in December 2005. It got lot of Hyderabadis hooked to it. Radio Mirchi FM (95 FM from Times of India group) was launched in the early of year 2006. Nagarjuna launched Radio City (104.6 FM by Music broadcast Pvt Ltd) on 30th May 2006. Reliance group is launching another FM channel very soon. The housewives and cabbies are getting addicted to these FM channels. The new habit of listening to FM radio is slowly affecting the sales of audiocassettes in the city.

Airtel model in Sairam Shankar’s film
Suhashi who did modeling for ad commercials of Airtel and Surf Excel is selected as heroine in Sairam Shankar’s latest film. This film is being directed by debutant Sreerama. Siva Balaji is also doing a vital role in this film. Regular shooting of this film will start on 17th July.

Venky’s naughty comments
Venky passed some interesting and naughty comments on the most happening heroine Ileana in the 175 days function of Devadasu that was held tonight at Odeon 70mm theater. He said that YVS has shown Ileana very well. Future directors too would show her more. Directors prefer showing more because she got plenty of it. (Chowdary Ileana ni baga choopettaadu. Migilina directorlu kooda mundu mundu aameni baga choopedataaru.). These naughty comments by Venky were lapped up by everybody out there including Ileana.

Vikramarkudu success tour from 10th July
The unit of Vikramarkudu would be traveling all over AP to celebrate the success of Vikramarkudu. The unit would touch Kurnool, Anantapur, Madanapally, Tirupati, Srikalahasti, Gudur, Naidupet, Ongole, Guntur, Vijayawada, Gudiwada, Eluru, Tadepally Gudem, Tanuku and Rajahmundry. This tour will start on 10th July and ends on 12th July. Rajamouli, Ravi Teja, Anushka, Rajiv Kanakala, Ajay, ML Kumar Chowdary and other unit members will participate in this tour.

1 crore set for Ram’s film
Ram (Devadasu fame) is currently acting in the direction of Sukumar (Arya fame). This film is being made on huge scale with big budget and high technical standards. A colony worth 1 crore is erected on road number 25 neat Bhoot Bangla in Banjara Hills. The entire film is being shot in S35 format by Ratnavel. The producer Aditya Babu is planning to send the entire film for Digital Intermediate. Devi Sri Prasad composed music and Vijay choreographs fights. YVS Chowdary fixes on Chakri

Warangal court quashed the case against Mahesh Babu on 6th July. Mahesh Babu and Guna Sekhar were accused of attacking a video shop in Warangal for procuring pirated VCDs of Arjun film. Warangal court quashed the case due to lack of evidence. Mahesh Babu attended the court today in Warangal.

Amma Cheppindi on 28th July
Gangaraju Gunnam’s directorial venture Amma Cheppindi will be released on 28th of this month. Sharvanand and Shirya play main leads and Suhasini is playing mother’s role. NTR’s Ashok censored
NTR’s 13th July release Ashok film was sent to censoring today. This film comes with lot of specialties. Ashok is the first south Indian film to be shot entirely with S35 camera. Earlier this camera was used to shoot a few parts in Style film. E Fx of Mumbai has done an extensively digital grading for this film for over a month and half. NTR is expected to bounce back with vengeance with this high profile film. Surender Reddy directed this film. Valluripally Ramesh produced it on Maharshi Cinema banner.

Prabhas’s film started
The regular shooting of Prabhas’s latest film in the direction of VV Vinayak started on 1st of this month. This film is the Telugu remake of Kannada blockbuster Jogi. Kadapa Mayor P Ravindranath Reddy is producing this film on Eeswari Films banner. A few fights in the choreography of Stun Siva were canned on Prabhas, Pradeep Rawat and Subbaraju. Ramana Gogula provides music and Sameer Reddy handles camera. Nayana Tara is doing female lead.

Superman Returns in Telugu
Suresh Movie Distributors have acquired the Telugu dubbing rights of latest Hollywood blockbuster Superman Returns. The Telugu version will be released all over AP on 14th of July with 35 prints. Suresh Movie distributors used to market Hollywood films on behalf of production houses earlier. For the first time, Suresh Movie Distributors bought the Telugu dubbing rights of a Hollywood film for whole AP release with Superman Returns.

Prabhas in Sivakasi remake
Prabhas is going to act in Telugu remake of Tamil blockbuster Sivakasi. Ileana would be paired against Prabhas in this film. AM Ratnam who produced the Tamil version is going to produce this film. Amma Rajasekhar (of Ranam fame) will direct his venture.

Venky for Devadasu 175 function
YVS Chowdary is having a field day with his Devadasu film. Devadasu is still celebrating function even after the end of the summer. The 175 days function of this film would be held amidst audiences on the night of 8th July in Odeon Deluxe, Hyderabad. Dasari, Venkatesh and Jaya Prada will be attending the 175 days function of Devadasu.

Devi Kamal’s Vipra Narayana
JK Bharavi’s script Vipra Narayana is going to be made into celluloid by KC Sekhara Babu on Devi Kamal movies banner. JK Bharavi is a specialist in penning devotional genre scripts and he tasted success in the combination of K Raghavendra Rao, Nagarjuna and Keeravani with Sri Ramadasu and Annamayya films. The other details of Vipra Narayana are awaited.

Roommates audio on 9th
Shooting of AVS’s latest film Roommates is complete and dubbing work is currently going on. Audio of this film will be launched on 9th of July. Incidentally this is 100th film of music director Mani Sharma. Eventually he would be in USA doing stage shows during this time. Naresh and Navaneet Kaur play main leads. CC Reddy produces this film on Visu banner.
