Laya is born on October 21st at Mysore as the only child
of Dr. G. Gopala Krishna and Smt. Yashoda.
Laya
showed keen interest in classical dance at a very tender age.
She started learning Kuchipudi when she only 10 yrs old, from
Sri Hanumantha Rao. Later she learnt Bharatanatyam under the
guidance of Josyula Sri Rama Chandra Murthy. She gave many programmes
and won many prizes at the state as well as national level competitions.
She
is performing her arangetram under the tutelage and guidance
of Sri Pasumarthi Ramalinga Sastry garu, a renowned guru of
Bharatanatyam.
It
may be of interest to know that Laya is an all rounder. Her
other talents include acting and chess. Her acting skills are
known all over the Telugu speaking fraternity. She is honoured
by the state government sponsored Nandi Awards not once but
thrice. As a child she debuted with Bhadram Koduko - a film
based on the tribulations of the child labour and won awards
and accolades.
Even
in the game of chess, Laya earned several prizes. She is also
pursuing her MCA from IGNOU. Laya is truly a rare combination
of beauty and the brains.
Laya's
father Dr. G. Gopala Krishna is presently with Kamineni Hospitals
as Nephrologist while Mrs. G. Yashoda is a home maker.
