Popular comedy and character actor Suthi Velu is no more. He died in the wee hours of 16 September 2012 at his residence in Chennai. His real name was Kurumaddali Lakshmi Narasimha Rao. He made his debut with Mudda Mandaram film in 1982. But it was Nalugu Sthambalata which was also released in 1982 that got him instant fame. His screen name is rechristened as Suthi Velu for his entertaining feat with Suthi Veerabhadra Rao in that Jandhyala directed movie. He has won Nandi award in best supporting actor category for the film Vandemataram in 1985.
