Bathukamma, a movie on Telangana culture and tradition, today celebrated its 100 function. Made on Kakatiya Films, the film starred Sindhu Tolani in and as Bathukamma. Released with just 9 prints, the film reached almost all the Telangana districts and important towns with 25 prints as of now.
Former Union Minister Dasari Narayana Rao, Warangal MP Erraballi Dayakar Rao, actor Srihari, Goreti Venkanna, Dr. Andesri, producers P.S. Ramamohan Rao, Vanaja Chandrasekhar Rao, director T. Prabhakar, the vital cast and crew of the film were present. All the speakers congratulated the unit members of Bathukamma for their genuine efforts resulting in the 100-days function of the film. The function was held at RNR Auditorium, Lotus Pond, Hyderabad.
Some big people are cheating public
Dasari Narayana Rao, who presented the 100-Days shields to the unit members, said: "Bathukamma's 100 days function speaks the real success of small films. Actually, this function should have been celebrated on a very grand scale. Some of the so-called big persons in the industry are bluffing that their films have completed 100 days and 200 days whereas the halls would be empty with closed doors. They are cheating the public. They should learn lessons from the real success of Bathukamma. Such people should learn how to respect the audience and the film industry."
Kabja of theatres a bane for small producers
"The business of Bathukamma also worries me. The movie might have collected more than four times of the money got by the producers. Some big persons are resorting to the "Kabja" of theatres and depriving the small films of their genuine right to get screened. This should change. I am going to start a revolution to change this scenario in the favor of small films. We urgently require reforms in the matters of theatre rentals."
Referring to the acting skills of Goreti Venkanna, Dasari said, with a heavy dose of emotion. "There are some actors who are not fit to take even 10 rupees as remuneration. But they are taking Rs. 10 crores and more. Under these circumstances, I wholeheartedly appreciate the makers of Bathukamma for giving such a wonderful film. I wish the film should run for 100 days even in the areas of Andhra and Rayalaseema. I also desire that films like Bathukamma should come in leaps and bounds in the industry."
Earlier, Dasari declined to present the shield to the manager of Sindhu Tolani (as the actress was said to have missed the flight). "Actually, that girl is the main person of this function. She should have come here. Anyways, I wish her all the best," Dasari said.
