The much-awaited film "Billa", starring Prabhas and Krishnam Raju on their home production Gopikrishna Movies was launched on October 9 (Vijayadasami day) at their office premises in Hyderabad. Meher Ramesh (of Kantri fame) is the director. Krishanam Raju is the presenter. Prabodh and Narendra are producers. Special pujas were conducted by UV Suryanarayana Raju. Star producer Dr. Mohan Babu clapped the muhurt shot on the portraits of gods. Krishnam Raju's daughters – Sai Praseedha, Sai Prakeerthi and Sai Pradeepti – switched on the camera. SS Rajamouli handed over the script to Meher Ramesh. The dignitaries who were present included K. Raghavendra Rao, Vadde Ramesh, C. Ashwini Dutt, Bogavalli Prasad, Jayakrishna, Jayasudha, Chalapati Rao, Dil Raju and others.

Meher Ramesh said: "Subject of Billa is based on the Tamil hit movie with the same name as Billa. Anushka and Namita are playing the heroines for Prabhas. Jayasudha is costarring Krishnam Raju. The regular shoot will commence from October third week. The shoot will be taken up in Malaysia, Bangkok, Dubai and Vizag. The film will be made in the Super 35 MM format. Popular Tamil cinematographer Sundarrajan is making his debut into Tollywood."
