Ram Gopal Varma is re-entering Telugu film industry after a hiatus of 12 years with a comedy flick titled ‘Katha, Screenplay, Darsakatvam: Appalaraju’. Sunil plays the title role as Swati does the female lead. The launch of this movie was held at Annapurna Studios with Sridevi, Nagarjuna and K Raghavendra Rao doing the honors.

Speaking on the occasion Ram Gopal Varma said,”It is an emotional moment for me. It was Sridevi who made me get interested in movies. And it was Nagarjuna who gave me a break in film industry. I am extremely thankful for both of them who came forward to do honors for my movie which I am doing in Telugu after a gap of 12 years. Appalaraju is a special film because it also has some personal moments from journey of becoming film director. Most of the wannabe film directors feel that they are better than the existing directors. Appalaraju is also of opinion that he is better than any of the existing Telugu film directors today. We recorded a song which criticises the existing film directors and I hope that they do take it sportingly.”

Nagarjuna said, “I acted with Sridevi in Aakhari Poratam movie. I was nervous to act with Sridevi and she made me feel comfortable. I am happy to see Ram Gopal Varma back in Telugu. I would love to do another movie with him in the future.”

Sridevi said, “I had never seen such a great co-star like Nagarjuna in my entire career. I am happy for Ram Gopal Varma. I hope that this film will celebrate silver jubilee and me and my husband will attend that function.”

Sunil said, “My mother is a big fan of Sridevi. Sridevi posed for a photo with my mother when she visited the sets of SP Pararuram in Annapurna studios. I felt bad that I couldn’t be there. I attended the auditions of Prematha movie when they were looking for four guys to be part of hero’s friends gang. I was rejected and though followed Ram Gopal Varma from Hyderabad to Palakollu. I am really happy that I am acting as hero in his next straight Telugu movie taken after 12 years. It is a dream come true.”

Swati said that she is excited to be the part of this movie.
