Dimension Films banner - found by NRIs - is producing
a film titled 'Vennela' with Raja, Sharvanand and
Parvati Melton doing main leads in the direction of
Deva Katta. The unit has finished its USA part of
shooting and came to India to shoot the rest of the
film. The producers arranged a press meet on this
eve. Here are the excerpts -
Raja said, "What made me accept this film
is the inspiring story it has. There is freshness
in characterization. The director came to me with
a bound-script and he knew exactly how he is going
to make. We shot the film in USA by facing lots of
problems like uneven weather and high cost of production.
Brahmanandam also visited USA and participated in
a 10-day shoot. Raja Ratnam - who did photography
for the film 'In the name of Buddha' - is handling
cinematography. Heroine Parvati Melton is a great
classical dancer and she did extremely well."
Deva Katta said, "The story of the film
deals the college lives of students in USA from India.
Though, a part of this film is shot in India we made
sure that there is no cultural difference for the
audience in India. The term Vennela denotes pleasantness
and romance. Myself and actor Ravi Varma left our
careers and plush jobs in USA to pursue new career
in films. Shooting of this film would be completed
by 7th of October."
Raja Ratnam said that he worked as an associate
to Ravi K Chandran for films like Dil Chahta Hain,
Koi Mil Gaya, Boys, Yuva etc. He opined that Vennela
would become a trendsetter in Telugu film industry.
Parvati Melton said, "I am a professional
classical dancer and a model. I have been a classical
dancer for the past 12 years and had given many stage
shows. I also acted in Hindi and Punjabi pop albums
as model. What drew me to Vennela is strong and well-defined
characterization by the director Deva. I am really
excited doing this role."
Ravi Varma said that he completed course in
acting at New York Film Institute. He is playing a
good role in this film. Actor Sharvanand also spoke
on this occasion.
