It was a shocking news that came out on Wednesday night from the sets of director Shankar’s upcoming film Indian 2 starring Kamal Haasan, Siddharth, Kajal Aggarwal and Rakul Preet Singh and others.

At around 9pm, a crane fell and collapsed in the EVP Studios in Chennai where over 1000 technicians were busy working. In the unfortunate accident, 3 people – assistant directors – were killed and 10 other injured severely. It is learnt that they are all taking treatment at the hospital at this moment.

Lyca Productions that is bankrolling the project took to social media to share the news and express condolences. They revealed in their heartfelt post that Krishna (assistant director), Chandran (art assistant) and Madhu (production assistant) were killed in the accident. Krishna is apparently the son-in-law of popular Tamil cartoonist Madhan.

Kajal Aggarwal took to social media to let her fans know that she is safe and that she is shocked. “In so much shock, denial, trauma from the monstrous crane accident last night. All it took was a fraction of a second to stay alive and type this tweet. Just that one moment. Gratitude. So much learning and appreciation for the value of time and life. (sic).”

Even Kamal Haasan put up a tweet in Tamil where he shared that though he has overcome many accidents in his lifetime, the one on the sets of Indian 2 is the most horrific one. He also offered condolences.

While Rakul wasn’t on the sets on the particular day, she surely seemed disturbed by it. “Shocked to hear about the accident on the set of my film indian 2.. I don’t even know how to process the loss of lives.. my Heart goes out to families of the deceased .. extremely extremely sad (sic),” read her tweet today morning.

The news has sent shockwaves across the film industry with everyone concerned about the welfare of the rest of the cast and crew. Kamal Haasan is said to have saved Ratnavelu in the last minute, while Shankar has sustained minor injuries. Well, life sure is unpredictable.
