Legendary actor ANR (91) breathed his last in the CARE hospital at 2:45 am on 22 January 2014 when he was rushed to due to uneasiness in breathing. He was suffering from cancer. He was honored with the Padma Vibhushan, India's second highest civilian honour for his contribution to Indian cinema, and is the recipient of the Dada Saheb Phalke Award, the highest individual lifetime achievement award for films in India. He has also received Raghupathi Venkaiah Award (1989) and NTR National Award (1996).

He has started his career with Dharmapatni (1941) film at the age of 17 and went on to act in over 250 films. ANR was known as tragedy king for his iconic roles in landmark films like Devadasu, Laila Majnu, Anarkali, Premabhishekam, Megha Sandesam, Prema Nagar etc. ANR is the one who made dances popular in Telugu social films.

ANR has organized a press meet on 19th of October and he is diagnosed with Cancer. He also expressed his positive intent over the disease and said he will fight till the end. May his soul rest in peace!
