Sekhar Kammula who has created sensation with his films Anand, Godavari, Happy Days and Leader in USA in the past has reaffirmed his brand value among NRIs with his latest film Fidaa. Fidaa which sported Varun Tej and Sai Pallavi as main leads has crossed $1.5 Million gross on USA on 2nd Saturday of it’s release. Dil Raju who is on success streak this year with Shatamanam Bhavati and Nenu Local has achieved his second million dollar film of the year in USA with Fidaa.

Fidaa is the 4th highest Telugu grosser of this year in USA. The top 3 grossers are Baahubali 2 (20.5M - including all languages), Khaidi No. 150 ($2.44M) and Gautamiputra Satakarni ($1.66M).

Sekhar Kammula’s sensible style of filmmaking, strong Telangana based heroine character that’s portrayed excellently by Sai Pallavi and likable content made this film connect with movie lovers. In India too, this film is doing exceedingly well.

USA is a strong market for films if made well. The Sankranthi season has delivered three big hits in USA in the form of Khaidi No 150 ($2.44M), GPSK ($1.66M) and Shatamanam Bhavathi ($796k). Baahubali has shown the maximum potential for an extraordinary Telugu film in USA. The month of July has given two $1 Million films in the form of Ninnu Kori and Fidaa which are released in a gap of 2 weeks. At the same time, some films by big stars are able to collect $1 Million, but are stopping just there because of routine content, there by ending up as loss making films.
