Veteran Telugu film dancer and actress Jyothy Lakshmi is no more. She breathed her last at Chennai on the night of 8 August 2016. Those were the days when all popular films used to have an item song for entertainment purposes as heroines were supposed to be homely and proper. Jyothy Lakshmi has mastered the art of item songs to such an extent that a lyricist penned a song on her featuring her ‘Jyothi Lakshmi cheera kattindi. Aa cheerake siggesindi’ in NTR’s blockbuster Sardar Paparayudu. Such was her popularity. A film titled Jyothy Lakshmi was made by Puri Jagan recently and the title is inspired by her. May her soul rest in peace!
