Merlapaka Gandhi is son of a noted Telugu novelist Merlapaka Murali. He has recently completed his direction course at LV Prasad Film and TV Academy. He has no prior experience in films, but did a short film called Karmara Devuda and sent it to a short film. This film has won the best film award in Hyderabad short film festival held in March for the year 2011-12.

Gandhi has narrated the story of Venkatadri Express to Sundeep Kishan first. Impressed with it, Sundeep Kishan has got a producer for it. Venkatadri Express is releasing on 29 November. We are presenting you with Karmara Devuda short film and Harish Shankar's take on this short film.
