While she may not have won many accolades at the award ceremonies this year, one person who quite shone with her choice of films and roles in the year 2018 was actress Samantha. In fact, the recently concluded Filmfare awards saw her films Rangasthalam and Mahanati cumulatively win nine awards.

In an industry where marriage is considered a career doom, the actress has proved the point wrong and saw a success in a commercial film like Rangasthalam where she had a meaty role that gave her a scope for performance. Also, in Mahanati, she played a journalist who narrated the entire story of the legendary actress Savitri.

The same year, she was also seen in U Turn where her performance and choice of story was acclaimed, yet again. Samantha starred in Irumbu Thirai (Abhimanyudu in Telugu) alongside Vishal and this film too was quite an attention grabber at the screens.

While 2018 proved to be quite the good one for her, 2019 was no less with the much talked about Super Deluxe kickstarting things for her before her much appreciated performance in Majili. Of course Oh! Baby kicked the ball out of the park in terms of how much she is willing to give it her all. But then, there’s a lot more in store for her and the remake of Tamil film 96 is definitely something that will show her prowess in 2020 other than her foray into the digital space with the Season 2 of acclaimed web series The Family Man.
