Legendary singer SP Balasubramanyam (74) is no more. It’s a heartbreaking news for millions of Indian music lovers. He has sung over 40,000 songs in various Indian languages. He has made his debut as a singer with a Telugu film titled Sri Sri Maryada Ramanna in 1966. He has a record of rendering 21 songs in Kannada, 19 songs in Tamil and 16 songs in Hindi in a span of 12 hours (9 am to 9 pm). He has sung for Kamal Hassan’s Hindi films and also his voice is instrumental in Salman Khan’s initial films. He was also awarded Padma Shri in 200- and Padma Bhushan in 2011. He has entertained every Indian who loves music with his mellifluous voice.
He was admitted in a hospital in Chennai on 5 August due to covid-19. He was on life support system till 25 September where he breathed his last. May his soul rest in peace!
