Ashok Galla, the grandson of Superstar Krishna and nephew of Mahesh Babu is making his acting debut with Hero, which is releasing this Sankranthi. Directed by Sriram Aditya of Devadasu fame, this film is hitting the screens on January 15th, and has Nidhhi Aggerwal as the leading lady.

The cast and crew of the film is quite excited, and is a chit chat with IdleBrain, here’s what director Aditya has to say about Ashok, the expectations on the film, Sankranti euphoria and the journey towards the making of a ‘Hero’.

So how is the Sankranthi euphoria? It was quite unexpected right?
The euphoria is just amazing. Sankranti means films for all of us. Audiences, and of course we from the industry get excited for the releases this festive season. And yes, the release was quite unexpected. With big films moving out of the race, it has given scope to films like ours. We all had to gear up to finish things as quickly as possible to make sure we hit the screens on the announced date. All of us are very much excited and happy.

How did ‘Hero’ happen? Tell us about the journey.
Padmavathi garu, Ashok’s mother, asked me to direct a film with Ashok. That’s how I bagged the opportunity of working with Ashok. I already had a story in mind and it was perfect for a newcomer. Ashok liked the story and we all were on the same note where we wanted to make a good film. We both hung out for a while in the process and learnt a lot from Ashok then. Thankfully, we managed to gel with each other and we both had similar interests. The way we both look at films was like ‘bang on!’. So that’s how the making of the ‘Hero’ started.

How was Ashok as an actor? Looks like he’s got those skills.
Oh, yes! He is a hardworking person, and passionate about cinema. He wants to prove his mettle as an actor. Also, he has acting skills in his blood for sure and saw his grandfather and uncle performing on the screen. He has a lot of ideas and thoughts about films, and filmmaking. He performed well in the well, and really doesn’t seem to be like the first film. He has outdone it. Be it dance, action sequences.. he nailed everything. He moulded himself and that’s the best thing about him.

Did you have any pressure on you as you were launching a lad from a family with such name and fame?
I didn’t want to look at the pressure or the expectations that people had on me. I strictly followed the rule of sticking to the fact of giving my best. If I start considering all the points that were giving me pressure, I might under perform. So I ignored all the negative aspects and blindly stuck to the positive ones. And I think it worked.

When did you guys begin shooting for the film?
We started shooting in December, 2019. And everybody knows what happened after it. We have two major breaks because of the pandemic. But these breaks helped us prepare for the next schedule and focus more on the output. We made the best out of these unexpected and unavoidable breaks. Thanks to all the actors in the film – Jagapathi Babu, Naresh, Vennela Kishore, Satya and others too for giving their time to us even during the tough time and all the love they showed to us.

Hero seems to be completely different when compared to your previous films.
Yes. I might not have those thriller kind of aspects, but Hero will glue you to the seats. It is a film that has the adrenaline rush audiences need, and all the elements that make it perfect for the festive season. It is an out of the box story for sure. I am sure the audiences will love it. Hope you all enjoy it in theatres only.
