Thoofan, Mega Power Star Ram Charan's eye ball grabbing cop saga, is all set to release nationwide on September 6th 2013.. The Post production work of the film is now happening at full swing. Ram Charan looks promising in the role of the tough cop and Priyanka chopra is the heroine for the film. This bi-lingual movie, releasing as Zanjeer in Hindi, also marks Ram Charan's debut in Bollywood. Amitabh Bachchan, who epitomised the angry young man image in the cult classic has endorsed Ram Charan's prowess and feels he can take the iconic role to the next level. Tweeting about Ram Charan, Amitabh Bachchan said “Ram Charan is a very proficient actor and I am sure he will do well”. 2013 also marks the 40th anniversary of the original Zanjeer, and Amitabh feels nostalgic about the change that this movie has brought into Bollywood”.

The movie is jointly produced by Reliance Entertainment, Prakash Mehra Productions , Flying Turtle films and is directed by Apoorva Lakhia, who has created quite a name for himself in B-Town. Priyanka Chopra plays the female lead along with distinguished actors like Prakash Raj, Sri Hari and Tanikella Bharani. With Sri Hari playing the Telugu counterpart of Zanjeer's Sanjay Dutt, the movie promises to be a high voltage drama. The trailer and promotional song, released some time back have already received great applause.
