Washington DC, Aug 31 2014: Capital Area Telugu Society (CATS) hosted a grand Cricket Tournament in Washington DC metro area during the Aug 30 and 31st long weekend. The tournament has kicked off on Saturday with 8 teams. Four teams have reached semifinals after the play offs. Finals was played on Sunday between "Herndon Hawks" and "Patriots" teams, Patriots won the match by 17 runs and stood as winner of the CATS Cricket Cup.

Chief Guests invited for the award ceremony was Delegate David Ramadan of Virginia State House of Delegates and the sponsor for the tournament Ramesh of ITech Solutions. Chief Guest and sponsors awarded trophies and cash prize to both Winner and Runner up teams, several other awards such as best batsman, best bowler, player of the tournament were also awarded.

Capitol Area Telugu Society (CATS) proudly announced that the organization is going to host a revolving Cricket Cup tournament every summer starting from this year.

CATS president Madhu Kola, Secretary Bhaskar Bommareddy, Treasurer Ravi Bojja, Sports secretary Pavan Kondapally, Jt. Director Sports Hari Kancherla, Culctural Secretary Sudha Rani, Joint Secretary Satyajit Mareddy and Trustee Badrinath Challa were present at the ceremony and thanked all the participating teams and volunteers for taking part in the event. The team also expressed their special thanks to the chief guest Delegate Ramadan for his support to the Cricket game and also his association with the Telugu community, the sponsors Ramesh of ITech Solutions, Raju of Country Oven restaurent, Ramakanth of Mayuri Indian Cuisine, Volunteers Sudhir Kodam, Durga Gouthama, Nithin Sama and Madhu for their hard work, and Sudheer Damidi for helping the Sports team in securing the grounds and successfully conducting the tournament.

This year's tournament was very successful and the CATS organizing committee would like to continue a ground for future tournaments.
