Bay Area Telugu Association (BATA) and Telugu Times have conducted the 2nd Annual Day celebrations of Paatasala in San Ramon, California. The program was a huge success with over 500 guests (students and their parents & teachers) joining the program. The special guest for the program was popular TV Anchor, Smt Suma.

The five-hours long program was a great treat for all the guests as it contained very attractive songs, poems, small skits, dances, and speeches by organizers and distinguished guest. The auditorium and the vicinity of the venue was very well decorated with flowers, colored banners, and other arts that created the festive atmosphere. All the guests and organizers wore Telugu/Indian traditional dresses.

Sumptuous lunch was served to all the attendee’s. It included traditional items which are near and dear to all telugus. Pulihora, Sambar Rice, Gongura, Gadda Perugu, & Chakra Pongali. Swagat Indian Cuisine & Peacock Restaurants sponsored the lunch.

Paatasala Curriculum Director, Dr. Geeta Madhavi Kala. Geeta mentioned that curriculum was specifically created for the students who are in US, and easy to learn. Further she stated that teachers/parents feedback was regularly reviewed and adjustments were made wherever to improve the program quality. The entire program by students on the stage was managed by the teachers. The main cultural program on the stage started with the Paatasala theme song by Dr.Geeta and all the teachers.

San Jose Paatasala kids performed “Dasavataram” play, in which kids depicted all the “Avatara’s” (Varaha, Mathya, Kurma, SriRama, SriKrishna.) The teachers and parents put lot of efforts in making special props. Taarangam class presented “Chiitti padhyalu”.

San Ramon kids performed “Sri Krishna Devaraya Sabha”, depicating how arts flourished during Rayalu. And how “Dharma” was safe guarded, and how witty Rama Linga saved the day.

Sunnyvale Paatasala performed “Slokams”, skits “Asta Lakshmi Vaibhavam”, “DEO garu Vastunnaru”, “Sooktulu nerpina Manavalu”, Poems ‘Chemma Chekka”, “Vaana Vaana Vallappa” and “Chitti Chilakamma”.

Dublin students performed skit “Amma Vurelithe” (a funny skit to show importance of mom), “Aata-Paata Naadu-Nedu” Skit, “Konchem-Istam Konchem Kastam” skit and “Taaranga tarangalu”.

Fremont students performed “Rajugaari Chepalu” skit, Lingastakam, “Jaya Jaya priya Bharata” dance and Jhansi Laxmi mono-action.

Foster city kids performed Narayana song & “Class room” skit. All the students wished “Happy Mothers day” to their mom’s and presented them with flowers and gifts.

BATA committee members & volunteers were available at the venue to provide clarifications to the questions or queries the prospective students/parents had. Registration booth and special demo on E- Learning was also arranged. The attendee’s could login to E-Learning at the event site, and their kids were really excited and showed lot of interest and enthusiasm in joining Paatasala.

Speaking at this occasion, Dr. Ramesh Konda , Director of Paatasala, Bay Area, mentioned that the strength of Paatasala has grown to 260 students with 6 centers operating in the Bay Area within 2 years. He applauded the tireless efforts of parents, teachers, coordinators, Paatasala & BATA leadership.

BATA Advisor Vijaya Aasuri welcomed the chief guest for the program, popular anchor “Suma”. Vijaya praised Suma’s command over Telugu, and mentioned that though Suma is not from Telugu speaking area, her dedication and love for the language made her to have fluency and command on the language and become top rated anchor. Vijaya thanked Paatasala team for their dedicated services.

The Chief Guest for the program popular anchor Smt. Suma delivered the keynote speech at this event. She said, she is really happy to see the interest shown by all the teachers and parents to teach Telugu to their kids. Suma mentioned that it is important to provide our cultural background so that the kids will appreciate their origin and help promoting diversity. Suma congratulated and commended BATA and Telugu Times for starting Paatasala initiative.

Must awaited and grand moment of the program was the graduation walk. Teachers and students from each center took graduation walk onto the stage to receive their certificates of completion from Suma. Entire guests were mesmerzed to see the kids take graduation walk with the graduation music playing in the background. Teachers and Coordinators were acknowledged for all their hard work and making the program a resounding success. Suma presented appreciation mementos to them.

During the program Kalyan Kattamuri (BATA President) conveyed his cheerfulness over the Paatasala’s grand success..Kalyan introduced BATA committee consisting of Sirisha Battula (Vice President), Yaswanth Kudaravalli (Secretary), Sumanth Pusuluri (Treasurer) Harinath Chikoti(Joint Secretary).

“Steering Committee” consisting Ravi Thiruveedula & Kamesh Malla. “Cultural Committee” includes Sridevi Pasupuleti, Srilu Veligeti, Kiran Vinnakota &Taraka Deepti. BATA “Logistics Team” includes Srikar Boddu, Arun Reddy & Prashant Chinta. BATA “Advisory Board” Jayaram Komati, Vijaya Aasuri, Veeru Vuppala, Prasad Mangina, Ramesh Konda & Karun Veligeti congratulated the team in making the program a grand success.
