Synopsis:
Carl (Dustin Hoffman) and Bob (Robert Redford) are the reporters of Washington Post newspaper. They happened to cover a break-in incident in Democratic Party headquarters (Watergate scandal). In the process, they realize that the people who broke in headquarters are funded by Republican Party. The rest of the story is all about how they unearth one of most astonishing secret in the history of USA that lead to the resignation of the president Nixon.
What I liked in the film?
1. This film is based on a real incident and it is narrated in a thriller style. It is a captivating movie.
2. For all those people who are interested in the political history of USA, this film is a must watch as it gives a blow by blow account of what happened in Watergate scandal.
3. The lack of cell phones and internet makes the film more interesting because it creates an interesting element in investigative journalism. These journalists risk their lives to bring the truth out.
The scenes I liked
1. The film starts with a reporter typing on a type writer and ends with the same. The way it is used in the climax is extremely innovative.
2. The scenes in which the journalist duo exchanges their conversations on paper slips after finding out that they have been bugged.
3. The scene in which the editor says “We stand by our boys.”
4. The way reporters ask the witnesses and sources to confirm their findings with code words.
