Synopsis:
Danny (Mel Gibson) is a pilot in the 1940’s. He loves Helen a lot. When he is about to propose to her, she has an accident and slips into coma. His friend Finney is a brilliant scientist who invents a scientific way of keeping a human being young forever. Disturbed by his girl friend going into coma, Danny volunteers to be the subject of the ‘forever young’ experiment. Two kids find him in a junkyard some 50 years later. The rest of story is all about how he figures out a way to come to terms with the present. In addition, there is a pleasant surprise in store for him!
What is special in the film?
Mel Gibson is charming. The make-up artist has done a fabulous job in which he is shown growing old rapidly in a span of few hours. It is a typical love story with science fiction involved. The concept of Danny telling a kid to propose to his 10- year- old girl friend is cute (because he did not get a second chance due to his girl friend’s hospitalisation).
The scenes I liked in this film?
1. Danny punches the face of the bad guy. The reaction of the heroine and fist of Danny is shown in the frame without showing the bad guy. It is like stating the power of the punch through the expression on the lady’s face. This scene comes in 13th chapter at 45 minutes.
2. The mother of kids telling the story of ‘I am holding his heart in my hand’. (17th chapter & 59 minutes)
Tailpiece: Mel Gibson is the perfect choice for this role because he truly justifies the title ‘Forever Young’. He is extremely good in Brave Heart and What Women Want too. |
