Synopsis:
Max (Sigourney Weaver) and Page (Jennifer Love Hewitt) are mother and daughter who are into conning wealthy men in a big way. They first con these men, marry them and then divorce them to inherit half of their wealth. One fine day, they fall into the trap of IRS and they still owe a large sum of money to IRS.  So they decide to pull off a magnificent operation, which would give them enough money to live well for the rest of their life. They zero in on billionaire Tensy (Gene Hackman). Tensy is an old widower with a persistent cough. Max is supposed to con him into marrying her and then steal his wealth. Will she succeed in it or not forms the latter part of the film?

What is good in the film?
This film is a cool entertainer. The dialogues are hilarious. Gene Hackman steals the show. Sigourney Weaver is really hot with a mind-blowing combo of sexy looks and great comedy timing. The following scenes are interesting

1. Mother and daughter having a bet about who would get an offer for a drink from a man in the bar. The mother wins the bet.

2. The entire thread of Tensy’s incessant coughing and Max’s reacting to it.

3. The final shot of the film.

What is not so good in the film?
The tempo of the movie goes downhill towards the climax.

Tailpiece: I find con flicks fascinating. But we hardly get any of these con films made into Telugu probably because a two and half-hour format of a Telugu film running time does not permit the concept. I would love to see a full-length Telugu film based on con operations.

Copycat: This film is being remade in Hindi as ‘Bachke Rehna Re Baba’ with Rekha and Mallika Sherawat playing the roles of mother and daughter respectively.
