Synopsis:

‘Meet the Parents’ was about Greg Focker (Ben Stiller) going to the house of Byrnes. ‘Meet the Fockers’ deals with Byrnes going to Fockers place. Jack Byrnes (Robert De Niro) is a disciplinarian with an uptight attitude. He visits the Fockers along with his grandson, wife and daughter. Bernie Focker (Dustin Hoffman) is a carefree guy who does not mind being the househusband. Rosalyn Focker (Barbra Streisand) is a sex therapist specialized in treating elders. What happens when the uptight Jack confronts these carefree Fockers forms the crux of the story.

What is special in this film?
Most of the sequels fail to live up to our expectations. However, Meet The Fockers is an exception. The comedy in the film is wild and crude at times. Robert De Niro and Dustin Hoffman are exceptionally good.

The good scenes/threads in the film

1. Circle of Trust: The concept of circle of trust is well explained and utilized in the film.

2. The kid thread: Though it appears a little obscene, the kid uttering his first word as ‘a** h***’ is hilarious.

3. The disciplinarian attitude of Jack: We see many people in real life, who cannot enjoy life as it is. They form rules, rigorously follow them and then force others to follow these rules. His attitude changes during the visit to the Fockers.

4. The scene in which Jack realizes that his own wife and daughter do not trust him.

Tailpiece:
Meet the Fockers is a funny film if you have a taste for unadulterated fun. The comedy is crude at times but the theme is nice and has a close resemblance to ‘Meet the Parents’, so it is fairly predictable. This film is not as good as the original, but it has it moments.
