Synopsis:
A group of reporters from Chicago based National Mirror are sent out for an assignment to verify and investigate an old woman who claims that an archangel called Michael lives with her. They realise that Michael (John Travolta) is an angel with feather wings. They convince him to travel along with them to Chicago. In that journey, Michael makes them realise many things. The rest of the story is all about whether they brought out the sensation story of angels or not.
What I liked in this film?
Generally, angels are supposed to be pristine and pure. Though this one is pure in heart, the physical appearance and habits do not befit them. The director tried to show angels in a different style. This film comes from Nora Ephron who directed films like Sleepless in Seattle and You’ve Got Mail.
What I did not like in this film?
This concept of angels does not go well with Indians compared to Americans. Hence, Indians sensibilities do not match with this film. Even otherwise, I found this film to be completely boring.
Any similar films?
City of angels.
Tailpiece: Americans have a fascination for angels, ghosts, and species from other planets. In Telugu, we do not encourage films with such alien concepts. For us socio fantasy means a role for Yama.
