The story is set in 1980’s period. Llewelyn Moss (Josh Brolin) is a poor man who leads his life hunting in Texas State. One day, he finds four vehicles with all dead bodies at a remote place. He understands that a drug deal has gone wrong and everybody got killed on both the sides. He finds a truckload of drug and a satchel of 2 million dollars. He picks up the cash and goes away. Anton Chigurh (Javier Bardem) is a bounty hunter and a psychopath. He is on the trail of Moss. Sheriff Bell (Tommy Lee Jones) is also on the trail of Moss. The rest of the story is all about Anton chasing Moss.
What I liked in the film?
It is a truly engaging film featuring cat and mouse kind of chase. The film has mind game as well as physical chase. The visuals are splendid. The fear factor is good. The characterization of Chigurh as a ruthless psychopath is extremely good.
What I didn’t like in the film?
The last 15 minutes of the film offers anti-climax. Probably the director wanted to stick to the novel the film is based on.
The scenes I liked
1. Chigurh killing his first victim in the film using handcuff. It was simple and interesting.
2. The way Chigurh fires the car driver using cylinder (second killing).
3. Chigurh flipping the coin to decide whether to kill the victim or not.
4. The usage of transponder.
5. The way Moss hides the loot in an air duct of the hotel.
6. The way he burns the car using its own petrol.
7. Chigurh says in the end - I made a promise to your dead husband that I would kill you’.
Tailpiece:
This film won four Oscar awards including best film, best direction, best screenplay and best actor in supporting role (Javier Bardem).
