Synopsis:

Chris Gardner (Will Smith) is a struggling salesman and his wife Linda (Thandie Newton) is an impatient woman who wants him to earn more money. The couple has a kid Christopher. After getting fed up with the marital life, Linda leaves Chris to move out to another city, but Chris wants to have Christopher with him. He also wants to become a stock-market related consultant and somehow gets an entry into a stock firm and joins as an apprentice without any pay. The rest of the film is all about how he struggles to support his kid and achieves the objective of being financially successful.

What I liked in the film?

The father - son relationship in this film is wonderful. Will Smith who looks very suave and sophisticated in his other films, changed his appearance to suit the role. It’s kind of unglamorous. He did extremely well as a struggling father. The storyline of the film is much nearer to sensitive human feelings as it is based on a real story. I loved the emotions in this film. Dialogues in the film are excellent.

The scenes i liked:

1. The way he uses his skill at cube to attract the attention of an employer.
2. He comes to the interview with bad cloths on. When asked by the interviewer how they should justify giving a job to a guy who comes to interview without shirt, then Smith says, “He must have had on some really nice pants.”
3. When the kid asks father, “Did mum leave us because of me?” father replies, “Mum left because of Mum”

This film is based on a real story. Will Smith’s son Jaden Smith acted as his son in this film. This film defines the word ‘happiness’ in a very convincing way.
