Synopsis:
The wild bunch is a group of outlaws operating at the US – Mexico frontier. They make a deal with the Mexican General Mapache to steal guns and ammunition of the US Army from a train and sell them to him for a price of 10,000. A man who is in hot pursuit of them closely follows them. The story the film tells is about the way by which they protect their honor.
The scenes I liked?
1. The opening scene in which kids enjoy the scene of ants eating two scorpions away.
2. The opening credits of the film, which was copied in ‘Reservoir Dogs’ later.
3. The train robbery scene
4. The scene in which the bridge is bombed
5. The scene in which the wild bunch decides to go on a suicidal mission of rescuing their tortured friend. This scene speaks of loyalty and camaraderie.
6. The climax scene where the den of the entire Mexican gang freeze in disbelief when the wild bunch shoots the Mexican general.
Tailpiece: This film is considered one of the masterpieces among cowboy films. However, for an average Indian like me, it appeared rather average. This film was considered highly violent at that time.
