Rajendra
Prasad, the nata kiriti, needs no introduction today. His
acting experience in Telugu cinema runs into a couple of decades
by now. He entered films with Bapu's film 'Sneham'. His first
film as hero is 'Preminchu Pelladu' by Usha Kiron movies.
He got the biggest break as the comedy hero with Sravanthi Ravi
Kishore's film 'Ladies Tailor', which is directed by genius
director Vamsi. He is the only comedy hero, who had the longest
span in Telugu cinema.
Though
comedy is his forte, he never deliberate to do some performance
oriented roles in his career. He played emotional and sentimental
roles in films like Punya Stree, Samsaram Oka Chadarangam, Erra
Mandaram and Nava Yugam. He got the Nandi award (Best
actor) for the serious role in the film 'Erra Mandaram'.
The
entire family watches Rajendra Prasad films, as he makes sure that
there is no vulgarity. Politicians like PV Narasimha Rao used to
watch Rajendra Prasad films to get some relief when he was under
tremendous pressure performing his duties as the Prime Minister
of India. At point of time, the newly wed couple used to be gifted
the videocassettes of Rajendra Prasad's 'Pelli
Pustakam' by the well-wishers.
He
is the director's actor. Directors like Jandhyala and Relangi Narasimha
Rao grew along with him. Commerically successful directors like
SV Krishna Reddy and EVV started their career as the director with
Rajendra Prasad and continued with him as the hero till they got
independent recognition. Rajendra Prasad shares a special relationship
with Bapu, who introduced him into films. He gave very good films
with the help of Bapu to Telugu movie lovers. He did also work with
veterans like Vijaya Bapineedu and Singeetam Srinivasa Rao. Vamsi
used to make most of his films with Rajendra Prasad as hero and
both these talented people tasted their success in this combination.
Rajendra
Prasad is conferred with honorary doctorate by Andhra University,
Visakhapatnam. He is also conferred with the title 'Rashtra Hasyapati'.
At
present he is working as a character artist in Nag's 'Aakasa
Veedhilo' and Geeta Arts film with Chiranjeevi. He is doing
hero roles in 'Apparao oka nela Tappaadu' and 'Miss Mumtaj'.
Rajendra
Prasad was born on 19th of July in NTR's house at Nimmakur, Krishna
district. Like NTR, he too made a mark for himself. We have only
one comedy hero in Telugu. Rajendra Prasad that is. On behalf of
idlebrain.com visitors, we wish his a happy birthday and plead him
to give us more comedy films.
