An open letter to Nagarjuna Fans

Hello Brothers (Nag fans),

This year Santosham brought Santosham to all of us.

In the year 2000 Nag had delivered 3 hits (Nuvvu vasthavani, Ninne Premistha and Azad) in a row with in a span of 150 days, which is a unique record in the industry. Great Train Journey form Vizag to Hyderabad on the occasion of Nuvvuvasthavani 150 days is first of its kind in the Film history.

In the following year (2001) Nag movies crashed at the Box office like IT crash. When everybody writes of Nag's career he came back with a Powerful hit which made all the critics silent.

This is not the first time. It happened thrice. And every time history repeated proving that Nag is the No#1 contender for the No#1 position. Nag's bouncing back theory relates well to that of the Phoenix bird, which takes birth from its ashes.

In the year 2002, Santosham showered the rain of success at Box office, which was suffering with drought. It is only a starting for another splendid spell.

But many of you might get upset with the number of 100 days centers. In 25+ centers Santosham paved the way to the major releases in the month of July after the completion of 72-80 days due to prior agreements that were made between the Exhibitors and Buyers. Not only this but also the lack of mass appeal and comedy affected the chances of getting long run in B centers.

Nag never encourages the culture of 100 days centers, which is prevailing in Tollywood. This 100 days center culture is nowhere prevailing in the world except in Tollywood and Madras. As the grass roots of our industry are from Madras that 'Sambar' smell is still prevalent. Anywhere in the world success will be measured in terms of Collections in comparison with the budget with which the film was made. Can anyone of you say the statistics of any English or Hindi movie, which ran for 100 days in so many numbers of centers? No! Who cares for these centers? Statistics will be available in terms of Rupees and Quality but not in terms of Centers.

It will take some more time to our people to rate the success of the film in terms of Quality and Collections rather than 100 days centers. Many of Nag's films got shifted after 63 days even though they are collecting reasonable amount of share because he never encourages this 100 days center culture.

Nag is odd man out of army where major chunk are putting their enormous efforts for false publicity, false prestige and false records by dragging the movies for 100 days with deficit.

It is the audience who has to merit the movie. If he gets satisfied for the amount he spends then that movie will remain in their memories forever and will cherish at the Box-office.

Good movies like Santosham created such long lasting impression in the hearts of the people. In the recent times such movies are rare in our industry after the demise of Jhandhyala and the departure of K. Viswanath, Bapu from the direction.

In the recent times Santosham is the movie liked by the most of the family audience form the middle and above middle class. 100 days centers can't create such impression. It's the quality that matters but not the quantity.

I request you all to respect the Nag's aspirations and enjoy his coming movies in true spirit. In the coming era of digital theaters (Imax theaters) there will be no place for the 100 days centers culture. It's only digits (Rs) that speak the success of the film.

Happy Birth Day to Nag

"Devude digi vachina, Swargame rasichhina, ippude
Santosham mundara china pothaye anni kadara……
"

With Santosham,

Prince.
