Vijaya Shanti to retire
Actress Vijaya Shanti has formally announced in Chennai that she is bidding adieu to her acting career after wrapping up the six films she is currently working. She also confirmed that she would be entering politics by contesting for elections for the year 2004. She said that she is on the mission to provide justice to Telangana people. She is currently handling the post of Vice President of women's wing in Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP). She would be going on 'Telangana Adhyayana Yatra' for 30 days to study the problems persisting in Telangana at grassroots level.

Foreign fighters for Srianjaneyam
The shooting of graphics work under the guidance of sfx expert Vizag Chakri is currently going on in Uttarandhra area for the film Sri Anjaneyam directed by Krishnavamsi starring Nitin. It is heard that fighters from Hong Kong and Hollywood are signed for a couple of powerful fight scenes in this film. The graphic work for this film would be handled by the technician who worked for films like Mission Impossible, Mummy, Jurassic Park etc. Huge sets are being erected in a barren land of Shamshabad for the shooting of Sri Anjaneyam. Aditi Agarwal plays the heroine. Hero Arjun is donning to the role of Lord Anjaneya. Diwakar Babu writes dialogues.

Chiranjeevi's nephew launched as hero
Viswa Teja - a nephew of Chiranjeevi - is launched on 27th June as a hero in films a double muhurat functions held at Annapurna studios' glasshouse. Chiranjeevi attended the function along with his parents and Allu Arjun. Chiranjeevi gave clap for these two films. One of these films titled Viswa is going to be directed by R Madhav Patnaik, a cousin brother of RP Patnaik. Speaking on this occasion, hero Viswa Teja said that he want to prove himself as an actor on his own merit than being referred as the nephew of Chiranjeevi.

Raasi to donate eyes to CCT
It has become a fad for the celebrities to sign on the eye donation forms of CCT (Chiranjeevi Charitable Trust) on their birthdays. Recently Chakri has done it on his birthday. Raasi is said to be thrilled to pieces when she was offered heroine role in Anjana Production's film with Chiranjeevi in the direction of VN Aditya that would go on floors on 18th August 2003. As a gesture of gratitude, she would be signing on eye donation form of CCT on her birthday, which happens to be 29th of June.

Charmi paired up with Srikanth
Charmi - who made a forgettable debut with 'Nee Thodu Kavali' directed by Bheemineni Srinivasa Rao - is all set to test her luck again with a film starring Srikanth in GSK Art Movies banner in the direction of debutant Surya Teja. The shooting of this film is currently taking place at a house in Shamshabad. Hero Srikanth plays an architect who is very arrogant. Another heroine Aboli is playing the role of civil engineer. Heroine Charmi is playing the character of village belle who comes to city. Srikanth said that he knew the director Surya Teja since the time of Pelli Sandadi as he worked as an assistant director for that film. The entire first half has city backdrop and second half has village backdrop. The unit would shift to Rajahmundry from 5th July. The talkie part would be completed by 31st July. JD Chakri to tonsure his head
Hero Chakri is going to tonsure his head for the shooting of the film Kaasi, in which he played the title role. He is traveling to the holy place Kaasi for the shooting of this film from 15th July to 30th July with the tonsured head. Earlier heroes like Kamal Hassan and Raja Sekhar did the act for tonsuring their heads for the effect of reality in their films. This film would also be shot at Calcutta (Kolkota) for a few days. This film is expected to be released either in the last week of August or first week of September. Keerti Chawla is paired up with Chakri in this film. Sri provides music. Puri to direct Venky
Puri Jagannath is going to direct Victory Venkatesh very soon. Burugapally Sivarama Krishna is going to produce the film. He produced hits like Sahasa Veerudu Sagara Kanya and Premante Idera with Venkatesh in the past. Story discussions are presently going on.

Fight master Vijayan to direct Srihari
The famous stunts coordinator Vijayan, who composed fights to all the big heroes in Telugu and Tamil film industry would directing a movie to be produced by Kanumalli Srinivasa Rao with Srihari as hero. Vijayan has worked with Srihari as fight master for the first time to 'Simhachalam' which is under production now. Kanumalli Srinivasa Rao produced Ganapathy in the past and is producing Simhachalam at present.

Uday Kiran celebrates his birthday today
Uday Kiran is celebrating his 23rd birthday today (26th June 2003). He is currently acting in two films. His film 'Neeku Nenu - Naaku Nuvvu' with Suresh Productions is in the finishing stage of shooting. He is also working with Supergood banner for the film 'Cheppave Chirugaali'. Balayya film starts on 27th June
Balayya's film in the direction of Swarna Subba Rao is starting on 27th of June in Hyderabad and it would be continued till 10th July 2003. Balayya plays the RAW (Research & Analysis Wing) officer in this film. The next schedule would be taken place in forests in August. The 3rd schedule would take place in royal forts in Rajahstan. The fourth schedule would take place for 20 days in Kashmir. The movie is expected for summer 2004 release. Konda Krishnam Raju produces this film. M Ratnam provides dialogues. Koti provides music. Konda Krishnam Raju said that there is no limit for the budget for this patriotic film. The names of the heroines would be revealed on 27th June when this film goes on floors. Balayya's film in direction of Jayant would be released for Sankranthi 2004. Konda Krishnam Raju said that they take more time to release this film as it take enormous travel all over country to shoot this film at national level. Ninne Istapaddanu success meet held
The success meet of latest hit film 'Ninne Istapaddanu' was held at S Gopal Reddy's guesthouse today. It was attended by Tarun, RP Patnaik, Konda, Kona Venkat, KL Narayana and S Gopal Reddy. Speaking on this occasion, producer KL Narayana said that movie is attracting heavy crowds to the theaters. The women are flocking to cinema halls from 2nd week onwards. He said that director Konda successfully fulfilled his promise of showing on the screen what he narrated in the story sittings. He has all praises for the performance of Tarun who shown mature performance in the second half. Tarun said that he is happy to have broken the jinx of alternative hit/flop with two continuous hits of Nuvve Nuvve and Ninne Ista Paddanu. RP Patnaik said that the music has got much response with the addition of visuals on the screen. He has been appreciated for his background score as well. Director Konda said that it needs guts for the producers to introduce a guy as director who has no background. He thanked the producers for giving him a golden opportunity.

Donga Ramudu and Party - ready for the release
Vamsi's 'Donga Ramudu & Party' is all set for the release on 26th of June. It got censored today and was widely appreciated by the censor board members as a clean entertainer. Srikanth and Laya are playing mainleads. Veteran vamp actress Jyothy Lakshmi is playing a special role. Songs of this film have already become popular. NTR's noble gesture
The newspaper Vaartha has published an article about a poor girl student who procured very good rank in Medicine department of EAMCET examination, but could not afford the studies due to her financial status. Film actor NTR responded immediately and announced a donation of Rs. 5 lakhs for the studies of that poor student Sujatha. Speaking on the occasion, NTR said that he has been having the ideas of floating a trust on Legend NTR's name and help the poor students. But could not do it because of his busy schedules. He however expressed immense satisfaction for getting the opportunity to help in the needy. The student Sujatha said that she wanted to become a Neuro Surgeon. We wish her all the best.

Genelia changes her name
Genelia D'souza, who made her debut through Vijaya Bhaskar's maiden Hindi venture Tujhe Meri Kasam (a remake of Telugu blockbuster Nuvve Kavali) has changed her name to suit the taste of Telugu people. She would be known as 'Harini' in Telugu and Tamil. She is cast as the heroine of Shankar's forth coming film Boys (for girls) that is expected to be released in the next month. She is playing a character that is chased by 4 boys. AM Ratnam produces the Telugu version.

Ammiraju turns producer
Ammiraju - a well-known figure among industry circles as the manager of few artists and also a production manager - is turning into a producer with a film titled 'Edukondalu' (software engineer) in the direction of Venky (of Kabaddi Kabaddi fame). Allari Naresh, Prabhudeva and Anshu in the main leads. Nallamalupu Srinivas - who worked as executive producer for films like Aadi an Chennakesava Reddy - is acting as executive producer for this film too. Mani Sharma scored music. Regular shooting of this film starts from 16th August 2003.

Indra for National award
Indra - mega hit of the year 2002 - is contending with the likes of Devdas, Raaz, Humraaz to win the best entertaining film at national level. Indra, which was released on 24th July of 2002, went on to become the biggest blockbuster of Telugu film industry. Chiranjeevi won Filmfare's best actor award through Indra recently.

Dasarath enters new house
Dasarath has recently shifted to his new flat, which he recently bought. Incidentally, Sunil (comedy actor) and Trivikram (dialogues writer) are also staying in the same apartments. Sunil, Trivikram and Dasarath are buddies for a long time. Dasarath is currently busy with the postproduction work of hi slatest film in offing - Sambaram - starring Natin and Nikita.

Chakri donates to CCT
Chakri was given an offer to music direct Chiranjeevi's film (VN Aditya - Nagababu combination film) on 15th June 2003 as a birthday gift to Chakri. Chakri is born on 15th June 2003. Chakri went to Chiranjeevi charitable trust and donated blood on that day. He also signed on the documents to donate his eyes to Chiranjeeci Charitable trust. He recently bought Tata safari Limited Edition worth 12 lakhs emulating his mentor Puji Jagan. Puri Jagan also owns a similar multipurpose vehicle.

Varsham for Sankranthi 2004
MS Raju's next film 'Varsham' starring Prabhas, Trisha, Gopichand and Prakash Raj is going to release on 15th January 2004 as Sankranthi gift. RP Patnaik would be composing music for Nagarjuna'a forthcoming film 'Athanu Magaadu' to be directed by VN Aditya and produced by Shiva Prasad Reddy on Kamakshi banner. Bhupati Raja provides story and Paruchuri brothers write dialogues. Incidentally, this film is the second film for RP Patnaik in the combination of Nagarjuna.

Chopper hiring for Ninne Istapaddanu's promotion
KL Narayana - the producer of Tarun's latest film 'Ninne Istapaddanu' - is hiring a helicopter for 2 days for promoting Ninne Istapaddanu. The audiences are supposed to write a letter stating the points they liked in the film. The winners would be selected through lucky dip. Tarun would travel in a helicopter on 28th and 29th of this month to the cities like Vizag, Rajahmundry, Vijayawada, Guntur, Tirupati and Hyderabad and meet the lucky dip winners. For the first time, a promotion of this kind is happening in Telugu film industry.

Sada with Pawan Kalyan

Meera Jasmin with Balayya?
As per the reliable sources, Jayant has chosen Meera Jasmin - of Run fame - as heroine opposite Bala Krishna for the Telugu remake of Tamil blockbuster 'Saamy'. There would be another heroine in this film. Shriya is under consideration for this role. Bellamkonda Suresh - who produced Chennakesava Reddy with Balayya in the last year - is producing this film. Prakash Raj play a vital role in this film. The muhurat of this film is slated at 9:45 am in Annapurna studios on 25th of June. Regular shooting would start from 10th July onwards.

In Egypt - Indian film means Amitabh
The team of 'Aadanthe Ado type' visited Egypt country to shoot the songs of that film on Aryan and Anitha in the direction of EVV Satyanarayana. The unit returned to India and held a pressmeet. Speaking on this occasion, the producer Ambika Krishna said that where ever they went in Egypt, the local crowd came and enquired the unit if Amitab has come for shooting. That is the kind of craze Amitab Bachchan has in Egypt. For the local crowds out there, Indian film means Amitab Bachchan.

Kalyana Ramudu shooting completed
The unit of Kalyana Ramudu completed its shoot today. This film has Venu, Prabhudeva and Nikita playing mainleads in the direction of G Ram Prasad (of Chirunavvuto fame). SP Entertainments that produced films like 'Swayamvaram' and 'Chirunavvuto' is producing this film. Bellamkonda Suresh presents 'Kalyana Ramudu'. Chakri's music for Chiru's film
Chakri is composing music for the first time for a Chiranjeevi's film that is being directed by VN Aditya in Anjana Productions banner. Arti Agarwal and Raasi are playing heroines. Music sittings for this film are currently going on. The rerecording of the songs would start from the next week onwards. Regular shooting of the film would start on 18th August. Seetayya on 25th July
Seetayya - YVS Chowdary's film with Hari Krishna, Soundarya and Simran in main leads - is expected to release on 25th of July 2003. The date of this film is postponed to accommodate some space between the release of NTR's Simhadri and Hari Krishna's Seetayya. Keeravani scored music for Seetayya has already become very popular.

Ramya Krishna in 5 films
Miss Ramya Krishna has officially turned into Misses Ramya Krishna when she married creative director Krishna Vamsi at Skandagiri Temple at Padmarao nagar, Secuderabad at 9:57 pm on 11th June 2003. She is currently acting in five films. She is currently acting opposite Rajendra Prasad in a film being directed by EVV Satyanarayana. The latest schedule of Nagarjuna's Shivamani 98480 22338 would start from 16th of this month in the direction of Puri Jagan. This schedule would continue till the monthend. Next schedule would start from 16th of July in Bangkok and continue till the end of that month. Poori Jagan is producing this film on his home banner Vaishno academy.

Balayya-Jayant film from next week
The shooting of Balayya's latest film in the direction of Jayant would start from 18th of this month. The first schedule would be continued till 24th June. Two Telugu girls launched on 9th June
There has been lot of influx from Mumbai to play the heroine roles in Telugu films. Our filmmakers claim that there is no Telugu girl coming forward to act in Telugu films. On the contrary, two Telugu girls were launched in two films on 9th of this month. One girl is Suhasini, who hails from Nellore. She is acting as heroine in Supergood friends banner film 'Chantigadu'. Another girl is Revathy, who is acting as heroine in Nitya films 'Madhumati'. The shooting of these two films started on 9th June.

Bhumika in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's film
Bhumika Chawla is selected as the bride of Bajirao in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's 'Bhajirao Mastani'. Salman Khan is playing Baji Rao and Kareena Kapoor is playing Bajirao's love 'Mastani' role. Bhumika Chawla is also acting in the Hindi remake of 'Run' opposite Abhishek Bachchan. Now, its time for Bhumika Chawla to shine in Bollywood after proving her mettle in Telugu.

Nagarjuna's public appearance
Nagarjuna, Nitin, Mahesh Babu, Prabhas, Srikanth, B Gopal, K Raghavendra Rao, SV Krishna Reddy, Dasarath, N Shankar and MS Raju are the distinguished invitees for the triple platinum audio disc function of 'Ninne Istapaddanu'. Nagarjuna made his first public appearance after a gap of almost 2 months and he looks stunningly handsome and healthy. Supreme audio and Durga Arts has jointly organized this function. RP Patnaik provided music. Konda directed the film.

Pellam Voorelithe DVD in two formats
The DVD of Pellam Voorelithe is slated for the release in USA very soon. This DVD is going have both Dolby and DTS sound formats. This DVD also would be having additional stuff like 100 days function of 'Pellam Voorelithe' featuring Chiranjeevi as the chief guest and also exclusive interviews with the cast and crew of the film, as per the officials from KAD Entertainment. Telugu cinema DVD is expanding its way of presenting new exciting complementary stuff to the Telugu movie lovers in USA.

Its bachelor's time in Malayalam
Two of the bachelor films in Malayalam are going to be remade in Telugu soon. The first one is Mr. Brahmachari featuring Mohan Lal. This film is going to be remade in Telugu in the direction of VN Aditya with Chiranjeevi as hero in Anjana Productions banner. The second film is going to be 'Chronic Bachelor' featuring Mammootty as hero. This film is going to be remade in Telugu by Aditya Ram (who produced Sandade Sandadi) with Jagapathy Babu as hero.

Mahesh Babu in and as Arjun
Mahesh Babu's forthcoming film in the direction of Guna Sekhar is confirmed as 'Arjun'. Guna Sekhar who delivered the blockbuster 'Okkadu' with Mahesh Babu would be directing this film on Indira banner. G Ramesh Babu produces this film that is going to floors on the 15th of this month. Shriya is paired up with Mahesh Babu for the first time. Incidentally, Allu Arvind registered the title 'Arjun' for a film to be produced with Allu Arjun as hero. The title was then given to Indira banner on request. Most of the technical team that worked for 'Okkadu' is working for the film except for Art (Thota Tarani) and lyrics department (Veturi).

Vasantham on 10th July?
The unit of Vasantham is currently canning the songs in Europe. Incidentally Vasantham would be the first Telugu film that is shot in Greece. This film would have six songs scored by SA Raj Kumar. The producer is planning to release the audio in the second week of June through Aditya. Dubbing work for Vasantham was started on 1st June. This film is expected to release on 10th July 2003. Venkatesh, Kalyani and Arti Agarwal play the mainleads. Vikraman directs the film. NV Prasad and Sanam Naga Ashok Kumar produce this film jointly on Sri Saideva productions banner.

Donga Ramudu and Party on 26th of June
Vamsy's latest offering 'Donga Ramudu and Party' is all set for the release on 28th of this month. The shooting part of the film is completed. Srikanth is playing the title role and Laya is doing the role of journalist Vasantha Lakshmi. Chakri provided music. ML Kumar Chowdary who presented 'Idiot' film is producing this film on Sri Keerthi Creations banner.

Raasi paired up with Chiranjeevi
Raasi is confirmed as the second heroine of the Chiranjeevi film to be directed by VN Aditya. Sonali Bendre is playing the main heroine role. There would be another heroine in this film who does not have any songs. This film is likely to go on the floors soon. Nagababu is producing this film Anjana productions banner. This film is a remake of successful Malayalam comedy flick 'Mr. Brahmachari'. Mani Sharma provides music and Chintapally Ramana pens dialogues.

Teja buys a theater in Vizag
Teja has become an exhibitor recently when he bought the Rama Talkies, which is situated near bus stand of Vizag. Teja is going to renovate it and rename is as Chitram Talkies. Teja feels that 'Chitram' - the film which he made - is a symbol of hardwork. Hence he would be naming all his ventures with 'Chitram'.

EVV's new audio formula for small filmmakers
Telugu audio market is governed by two major companies (Aditya and Supreme) and one new entrant (Sohan). All these companies concentrate more on big films. As per EVV Satyanarayana, these audio companies do not treat small filmmakers in a proper way. They do pay about 1 lakh as audio rights and produce 25,000 copies. But EVV says that a good audio - though belonging to small films - has a market of 1 lakh to 4 lakhs audiocassettes. The thumb rule in audio market is that the audio maker would make around Rs. 10/- as net profit per cassettes. So the potential of hit audio would be between 10 lakhs to 40 lakhs. Hence EVV Satyanaraya encouraged his producer Ambica Krishna to release the audio of 'Aadanthe … ado type' on his own by starting Ambica audio company. When the producer himself releases the audio, he would make sure that he promotes it in a proper way. EVV is confident that 2 lakhs of 'Adanthe ado type' audiocassettes would be sold before the release of the film. EVV said that he would also make his future producers to release audio on their own for the proper promotion and more profits.

Teja's NO to Film Nagar
Teja is planning to introduce 40 new artists through his future venture Dhairyam. He seems to have been upset by a particular actor in the shooting of his latest film 'Nijam', which forced him to take this decision. He would also make sure that nobody from Film Nagar enters the cast of Dhairyam. Teja is very particular on introducing more artists from poor-income families and lower cast families and making them stars. Teja opines that the Telugu film industry does not belong to Film Nagar in Hyderabad, but it belongs to the people of Andhra Pradesh. He proved that he can change the course of direction of Telugu cinema with his debut film Chitram and now he is all set to create another healthy trend through the film 'Dhairyam'.

Chitram Movies banner film Sambaram completed its talkie part today at a function set erected at Annapurna studios. The remaining song would be canned for 4 days in another floor of Annapurna studios. This would mark the completion of shooting for Sambaram. Dasarath directs this film that stars Nitin and Nikita. Teja has never entered the sets of Sambaram so far. However, Teja is said to have seen the rushes of films for the first time yesterday and he expressed his immense satisfaction over the results. This film is expected to release once Nitin's Dil completes 100 days.

Teja in Dubai for Nijam release
Nijam - Teja's latest flick with Mahesh Babu as hero - is releasing overseas on 6th of June 2003. This film is releasing in USA, UK, Singapore and Dubai on 6th June. Teja is traveling to Dubai to meet the people in Dubai and encourage them to see more and more Telugu films in future. Nitin might also accompany him. Teja would also be going for selecting locations for his future film 'Dhairyam'
