TELANGANA AMERICAN TELUGU ASSOCIATION BATHUKAMMA CELEBRATIONS Oct 6th 2019 – New York

Telangana American Telugu Association (T.A.T.A.) is all about Heritage, Culture and Tradition. T.A.T.A New York team organized its flagship event Bathukamma celebrations on October 6th 2019 at Radisson Hotel in Hauppauge, Long Island NY. Bathukamma festival symbolizes the cultural spirit of Telangana. T.A.T.A advisory chair Dr. Pailla Malla Reddy garu along with Treasurer Ranjeeth Kyatham, Board of Directors Sharath Vemuganti, Sahodar Peddireddy and Usha Mannem conveyed their best wishes to the community with health, happiness and prosperity. T.A.T.A President Vikram Jangam honored the event with his presence all way from Dallas Texas and addressed the crowd and wished the New York community Best wishes on the occasion of Dussehra and Bathukamma festival. Around 700 plus T.A.T.A Family members and well-wishers attended the event with great enthusiasm. All the women dressed in traditional sari and jewelry offered prayers with flowers to goddess Bathukamma. Traditional Pandiri was beautifully decorated by the team and offered Naivedyam to goddess Durga Matha.

Event started with Srilalitha Parayanam and offering Prayers to goddess Durga matha. Later hundreds of women participated in Bathukamma play and whole area thundered to the sound of Bathukamma songs. Folk Singer Mangli graced the occasion with her presence all the way from India and participated in the Bathukamma celebrations with her singing, interacting with the crowd and playing Bathukamma. Special Dance performance by T.A.T.A Ladies team along with kids was thoroughly enjoyed by the crowd. Last but not the least a classical dance performance was graciously performed as an offering to the Goddess. At the end of the play, all Bathukammas were immersed in a nearby water pond.

Sumptuous traditional Telangana lunch was served to the audience and immediately post lunch Mangli again entertained the crowd with her Aata Paata. The crowd also got the opportunity to spend time shopping their favorite clothing at multiple vendors. Lastly the audience participated in non-stop Dandiya with family and friends and enjoyed the event to the fullest.

Today’s entire event was supported and encouraged by Dr. Pailla Malla Reddy who addressed the crowd and congratulated the T.A.T.A New York team for and bringing the community together on the beautiful occasion of Bathukamma and wished the crowd a Happy Dussehra. Also, while addressing the Media T.A.T.A President Vikram Jangam and New York Team wished a Happy and joyous Bathukamma festival to the entire Telugu community. This event was supported by Telugu Literary and Cultural Association and its president Ashok Chintakunta and BOT Chair Purna Chandra Prasad Atluri.

Regional Vice President Mallik Reddy thanked the community for their unconditional support for the event. He also conveyed his sincere thanks to all donors for their help in making this event a grand success. This event was successfully organized by T.A.T.A New York Team Ranjeeth Kyatham(Treasurer), Board of Directors, Sharath Vemuganti, Sahodar Peddireddy & Usha Mannem.
