Care for Children through Cinema

According to a popular saying in Telugu - 'Neti balure repati pourulu'. Childhood is the stage where a person is at his/her peak when it comes to attentiveness and idea grabbing. Cinema being an entertainment media, it attracts and there by influence kids the most. But what is the cinema industry offering them. Sex, Violence and Vulgarity?

For kids, viewing a film goes beyond watching it and forget about it later. They try to emulate unreal and unusual things that their matinee idols do in the films. Not long ago a kid has self immolated himself thinking that 'Shaktiman' will come and rescue him.

Can't producer make films exclusively for children. 'Chnnari Chetana' was a fabulous film that came a decade and half ago. Producers are not at the fault. Cinema making is not just an art. The pivoting factor that changes the equation of film making is money(budget and sales). Now a days, even the commercial film is turning out to be a damp squib at box-office. No producer is ready to shell out his heard earned money over making a film for children.

To the chagrin of Telugu Film Industry there was just one telugu film 'Patha Nagaramlo Pasivadu' by Akkineni Kutumba Rao that participated in 'International Children Film Festival' that is held at Hyderabad. Looking at the pathetic scenario our CM Chandra Babu Naidu announced a 'Twenty Five Lac Package' for the producers of Children films. We have to wait and see how many months it is going to take for implementation.

There are three films in making that can partly cater to the children. They are 'Anji' (Chiranjeevi), Devi Putrudu' (Venkatesh) and 'Sahasa baludu and Vichitra Kothi' (Vijaya Shanti). All these three stories revolve around kids and have awesome special effects.

If we analyze the latest blockbusters at Hollywood box-office(The Mummy, Sixth Sense, Pokemon and Toy Story II), they too caters exclusive to kids and all of them boast U rating. Our Telugu Producers should take a cue from the latest trend and try to make films that entertain kids in a clean way.
