Story

Seenu (Nitin) is an aggressive youth. He falls in love with Nandini (Neha). Nandini's father Gowry Shankar (Prakash Raj) is a major mafia leader. Gowry Shankar objects to the love of Seenu and threaten Seenu's parents of dire consequences. Seenu retaliates and challenges that he would marry Nandini. The rest of the film is all about how Seenu marries Nandini.

Artists:

Nitin: Nitin suited the role very well. An action film for a tender-looking guy like Nitin sounds a little odd. But Nitin justified his action role by showing gestures of cool demeanor even in hot-blooded actions scenes. He did the stunts well. If Jayam introduced another new hero for Telugu film industry, Dil establishes that Nitin is here to stay!

Neha: The heroine Neha is OK. But she is not spontaneous in her histrionics.

Prakash Raj: This role of 'Gowry Shankar' proves again that only Prakash Raj is capable of doing such roles. He is simply brilliant. Some villains amplify the heroism of the hero with their histrionics. In this film Prakash Raj added additional heroism to hero's character with his performance as the frustrated don who is in fear of hero.

Others: Chalapati Rao did a typical role of the father. Venu Madhav did a brilliant role as sidekick of hero. He used his mimicry talent for excellent results. LB Sreeram - MS Narayana's comedy is good though it lasted for only few moments. Rajan P Dev did a positive role in this film as grandfather of heroine. Sudha and Kalpana also did well. Raghubabu added some more fun as the trusted henchman of Prakash Raj.

Technical Departments:

Story - Screenplay - Direction: Story of the film is hotchpotch of many films. VV Vinayak - who made his debut with a bang through Aadi - had to suffer a setback due to CKR. With this film he established his credentials as a talented director. The screenplay and twists in the last half an hour are brilliant. However, his screenplay is not slick in the first half. Direction and taking of the film are also good. The way he molded the character of Prakash Raj is really praiseworthy.

Dialogues: Dialogues by Chintapally Ramana are asset to this film. There are very good comedy oriented dialogues and one-liners that evoked humor in the cinema hall.

Music: Music by RP Patnaik is average. The background music and rerecording is also just OK. RP Patnaik is definitely capable of doing better stuff.

Other departments: Photography of the film is good. Editing by Gowtam Raju is commendable. Action sequences by Stun Siva are impressive.

Production: Raju - Giri - the popular distributors from Nizam who distributed mega hits like Kushi, Murari, Nuvvu Naaku Nachchav, Aadi etc - did their first straight production venture as 'Dil'. This duo is known for their judgment in selecting good films for distribution. Likewise, they selected the right story for their 'Dil'.

Analysis:
First half of the film is decent, as it establishes the characters and their traits. But it's the second half that really took off in a great style. The best part of the film comes in the last 30 minutes. The climax of the film is great. Over all, it's a good film to watch.

Trade talk: This film has got a unanimous positive talk from all over the state. The trade pundits are expecting a guaranteed 70-day run for this film. The total run of the film would depend on how other films that are releasing in this month fare.
