Story

Siva (Madhavan) comes to his sister's (Anu Hassan) place in Hyderabad from a small town to do his graduation. He falls in love with a girl whom he saw on the road and proceeds aggressively to woo her. Her name is Priya (Meera Jasmin). She also falls in love with him. But the catch is that her brother (Atul Kulakarni) is a ruthless gangster in the city and would not spare anybody who follows his sister. At this juncture, Siva retaliates and beats up the henchmen of gangster. Then starts the war between the lover of the girl and the bother of the girl. The rest of the story is all about how the lover wins the war.

Artists: Madhavan looks very romantic as well as manly in this film. He slimmed down a bit. He underplayed his character and made sure that he never went overboard. Meera Jasmine looks pretty. Her innocence and classic outlook suited the character of the traditional girl in this film. Atul Kulakarni performed well as the gangster. Anu Hassan looks pretty sensuous and did portray her character with poise. Raghuvaran has got a different character of a good husband with comic outlook and he did well as well. The separate comedy track for Sunil is not interesting.

Technical Departments:

Screenplay - Direction: Generally we see lots of 'over action' in terms of histrionics in dubbed Tamil films. But the director Linguswamy made sure that all the characters are underplayed in this film. Though the story is a wafer-thin one, director narrated the story effectively with commendable screenplay. However, there are dull moments in the second half, which made the film getting dragged a little bit. The director showed his grip on mass elements in a scene before interval where Madhavan runs away from the henchmen only to close the subway's shutters so that he can come back and beat them to pulp in front of the heroine. There is also another brilliant scene in which a faithful handicapped servant tries to prevent Madhavan from taking Meera Jasmin away from her house.

Other departments: Music by Vidya Sagar is OK. The background music is good. Most of the songs in this film are melodious. Jeeva has done excellent work as cinematographer. VT Vijayan edited the film crisply. Dubbing dialogues by Srirama Krishna are good.

Analysis:
The first half of the film is about Madhavan 'run'ning after Meera Jasmin. The second half of the film is about leading pair 'run'ning away from the attention of the villain. Over all, it's an above average flick. But, do the Telugu people are in a mood to accept dubbed films in these changed days? We have to wait and see if Madhavan's magic works.
