It became rather difficult to distinguish between the devotees
and the junior artistes who were in the guise of devotees
at the famous Sri Hari Hara Kshetra Devasthanam in Bharath
Nagar, Moosapet, a suburb of Hyderabad where director P. Vasu
was shooting for Sashank Meghansh Cine Creations maiden venture,
Prithivi Narayana. It was lunch break and there was lot of
hungama as the unit hands and the artistes were having their
meal. Since it was a temple, only vegetarian meal was being
served, informed a senior production man. Vasu joins us and
speaks about the film. "This film will take Srihari closer
to the female audience. Till now he is known as an action
hero and is adored by the mass audience. There is an untapped
potential in him as a sensitive actor too in sentiment scenes.
In some of these sequences, without dialogue, with just expressions
through his eyes, he conveys his feelings. He plays a dual
role as Prithivi, the police officer and Narayana his estranged
brother, the villain in the story. After a long time Srihari
is playing the villain again. But at the end the audience
would love Narayana and even sympathise with him, " he
says of his hero.
"Vijayalakshmi
is cast as the police officer's wife and Meghana plays the
other heroine, while Ranganath is the father of the hero,
Vasu explains about the star cast. The scene that was being
shot has the heroine visiting the temple. Vijayalakshmi walks
to the premises, spots her husband look-alike Narayana. Havind
heard of his reputation as a cruel man Vijayalakshmi faints.
Narayana recognizes her, goes near her and tells her that
he is not a bad man as made out to be. He takes her to the
hospital. And in the hospital scene, the two Sriharis come
together and a wordy duel takes place between them. The hospital
scene will be filmed at J.J. Hospital, informs the director.
The next and last schedule will take place in a rural ambience
either at Amarvathy or Rajahmundry, "The six songs in
the film are situational and Vandemataram Srinivas has given
a melodious score," says Vasu.
Srihari
joins in a brief conversation. "Vasu had seen my performance
in Ayodhya Ramayya and congratulated me over phone. He later
met me with this subject. I found it extremely good and novel.
I have decided to produce it myself. It has all the ingredients
of a box office hit - action, entertainment and sentiment.
It is going to be a milestone in my career." The film
is slated for release in August.
