Laya is all set to get married on 14th of June. The groom’s name is Dr. Sri Ganesh and he works as a radiology oncologist in California.

Speaking to the press Laya said, “There are two reasons for me to hold this press conference. The first reason is that I have completed my MCA. The second reason is that I am getting married to Dr. Sri Ganesh (California). It is an arranged marriage. I am going to say goodbye to films as well. My last film is going to be Tata Birla Madhyalo Laila. This is my 39th film. I would like to thank to all producers, directors, actors and audiences for encouraging me as an actress. I would like to specially thank SP Entertainments banner for introducing me as heroine with Swayamvaram film. Though I am retiring as an actress, I would like to continue stage shows as classical dancer. I am retiring from film industry in order to give more importance to family life. The proudest moment for me as an actress was to receive two Nandi awards at the same venue as best actress for Manoharam (2000) and Preminchu (2001). I learnt the art of being bold from Telugu film industry. It is the industry where only talent counts and one need not have a godfather to come up in this industry. The girls from traditional families can come and work in this industry without any fear.”

This press meet was also attended by Laya’s parents Dr. Gopala Krishna and Yasodha.
