Venky’s Namo Venkatesa
Venkatesh always makes sure that the titles of his films arouse interest. After Chintakayala Ravi, Venkatesh selected another variety title ‘Namo Venkatesa’ for his next film in the direction of Seenu Vytla who is flying high on hatrick comedy hits Ready, Dubai Seenu and King. Trisha will do female lead in this movie. This film is expected to be launched in the last week of June. This movie will be produced by Giri (Sye fame). Venkatesh is currently working for Kamal Hassan’s Eenadu which is a remake of Bollywood critically acclaimed film ‘A Wednesday’.

Varun Sandesh buys Village lo Vinayakudu for USA
As per the sources of idlebrain.com, actor Varun Sandesh has bought the overseas exhibition rights of Vinayakudu sequel – Village lo Vinayakudu today. This film features Krishnudu doing the title role and it is set against the backdrop of Rajolu village. Sai Kiran Adivi who directed Vinayakudu directs this movie as well. He is also producing it on Moon Water Pictures banner. This film will be launched in the first week of June.
Dil Raju buys Evaraina Epudaina for Nizam
Dil Raju bought Varun Sandesh’s debut film Happy Days for all over AP. He produced Varun Sandesh’s second film Kotha Bangaru Lokam. Dil Raju bought the Nizam theatrical rights of Varun Sandesh’s third film Evaraina Epudaina. This film is being produced by AVM Productions banner in the direction of Marthand K Shankar. Tamil film heroes are busy in Hyderabad these days. The other night, we spotted three heroes – Vikram, Vijay and Arya staying in Taj Banjara hotel. Rajnikant is busy shooting Robo in Ramoji Film City. Director Shankar is opting Ramoji Film City for his latest films as only RFC has such big floors to accommodate his extravagant sets in India. Singanamala Ramesh who is producing big ticket flicks like Varudu and Komaram Puli has signed bilingual hero Vishal for his next production venture. Fake currency shoot ends up in police station
There are many scenes in movies where actors are shown carrying suitcases of currency notes. The producer generally keeps real currency notes on the top and fake currency notes in the bottom. But most of our producers are unaware that it is a crime to shoot scenes with fake currency notes without seeking written permission from the local police station. A couple of constables will attend the shoot of scenes involving fake currency notes. After the shoot is completed, all fake currency notes will be burnt by the cops. It is also a crime to scan or Xerox currency notes. A film involving a big Telugu hero got into controversy because they shot a fake currency scene without seeking permission from the local police station. The cops came and seized the shoot and took in the key technicians involved in the shoot. It was later settled amicably and the unit was let off with a stern warning from the cops. Big directors like Shankar are completely aware of such things. When Shankar shot Sivaji film with Rajnikant in Ramoji Film City in the past, he obtained permission from RBI and shot the entire fake currency scenes in the presence of cops.

Jr. NTR injured
Jr. NTR got slightly injured while returning to Hyderabad after completing the campaign on the night of 26 March at 11 pm. His car somersaulted while making a turn. Rajiv Kanakala was accompanying him during the journey. This accident caused slight injuries on NTR’s head and eye. He took first aid at New Life Hospital in Suryapet before going KIMS, Hyderabad.

Kantha Rao is no more
TK Kantha Rao (86) – one of the greatest heroes of folklore yore in Telugu cinema – passed away on the night of 22 March. He has been suffering from lungs cancer for the past few months. He was being treated in Yasodha hospital for the past four days. He was born in Gudibanda (Nalgonda district) on 16 November 1923. He made his debut in films with HM Reddy’s film Nirdoshi with a small role. His first film as hero was Pratigna. His films in the direction of Vithalacharya were big commercial hits and earned him the coveted tag ‘Janapada Brahma’. He also won national award for his work in Lavakusa film. He acted in more than 400 films so far. The Government of Andhra Pradesh felicitated him with Raghupati Venkaiah award in 2000. Though a great and successful actor, TL Kantharao was plagued with financial problems in the last few decades due to his lack of financial planning when he was a big hero. May his soul rest in peace.

Shamili father’s tantrums
National award winning child actress Shamili seems to be putting her career into danger even before she made her debut in Telugu as heroine. Mesthri’s satires on Chiranjeevi
There are several satires on Chiranjeevi in Mesthri film that is released today. Dasari attacked Chiranjeevi in this film by making many references in the final reels of the film. He used the character of Vijaya Kumar who starts a new party. There is a remark in the film where Dasari said people would come and attended the road shows in huge number even if sex bomb Shakeela comes for canvassing. There is another stringent criticism that caste played a major role in the rise of a celebrity. There is a reference for using Gandhi and Ambedkar images in the background (pedda valla photos venuka pettukunnatha matrana nuvvu kooda pedda vaadivi kaavu). The first press meet of Chiranjeevi held at his party office announcing his entry is also replicated in the film. The reference of a physically challenged man garlanding the leader appear to be aimed at Chiranjeevi.
Arundhati Tamil version on 20 March
Arundhati - the latest blockbuster of Telugu film industry – is being dubbed and released in Tamil with the same name on 20 March 2009. Shyam Prasad Reddy who dubbed and released his earlier blockbusters Ankusam and Ammoru is also releasing Tamil version in tie up with Chennai based distribution agency Sri Thenandal Films. The Tamil version is likely to release with a huge number of 250 prints.

Veteran actress Nirmalamma (89) expired today morning. Her real name is Rajamani. She hails from Machilipatnam. She entered into film industry at the age of 16 in 1950 with Garuda Garvabhangam film. She acted as one of the maids to the princess. Since then she acted over 1000 films. Her last film was Premaku Ahwanam. She became the standard bamma in Telugu films during 80’s and 90’s. Her bamma role in Gang Leader was noticed a lot.

Arundhati satellite saga
As per the sources of idlebrain.com, Shyam Prasad Reddy retained all the rights of Arundhati with him. One thing most of us don’t know about is that he sold the satellite rights of Arundhati to a big personality of Telugu cinema for one crore rupees a couple of years back. Shyam Prasad Reddy contacted that person again on 9 January 2009 (five days before the film release) and asked him to re-sell the rights back to him as he is planning for own release. That person said that he would sell it back for profit. They negotiated and Shyam Prasad Reddy bought the rights back for 1.35 crores. That person made a profit of 35 lacs. After the release of Arundhati, that person contacted Shyam Prasad Reddy again for satellite rights and Shyam quoted an astronomical amount of 7 crores. That shows the business acumen and the confidence levels of Shyam Prasad Reddy on his film. As Arundhati is on its way to become all time biggest grosser of Telugu film industry, Shyam Prasad Reddy is not selling satellite rights even for an exorbitant price.
Here is another aspect of how Shyam Prasad Reddy raised 1.35 crores in duration of half-an-hour. He sent his men out to the street to borrow 1.35 crores for 15 days at an interest rate of Rs. 10 (120% interest on annual basis). And in 15 days, he returned back the money.

Kangana Raunat (Gangster, Fashion and Kites fame) will be making her entry in Telugu with a grand film to be directed by Puri Jagan. This film features Prabhas doing the main lead. Kangana was initially considered for Pokiri film. She could not do it because she was busy with Gangster. Aditya Ram produces this film.
Nayana Tara with Ravi Teja
After Dubai Seenu, Nayana Tara will be paired up with Ravi Teja again in Boyapati Seenu’s next film to be produced by actor turned producer Ganesh. This film will go to floors very soon. Ravi Teja is currently working for KIKK in the direction of Surender Reddy.

Krishna Vamsi film launch on 15 Feb
Srikanth’s 100th film will be directed by Krishna Vamsi. This film will be launched on 15 February at Old Aluminum factor in Gachibowli. Bhavana plays female lead. Manohar produces this film on Golden Lion Films banner.
Three remakes this week
This week is going to be the week of remakes. Siddham which is released today is the remake of Hindi flick Ab Tak Chappan. Satyameva Jayathe (Rajasekhar in the direction of Jeevitha) is a remake of another Hindi film Khakhee. Hindi film Billoo Barber is the remake of Kathanayakudu (Kuselan in Tamil). Movie lovers have to contend themselves with watched the remake films this Friday.
Nitin shoot in Dubai
Sri Spectra Media is producing a film with Nitin and Ileana in the direction of Paruchuri Murali. 40% of the shooting is complete so far. The unit will travel to Dubai on 1st March and shoot over there for over a month. Mani Sharma composes music. Ramesh – Gopi pens dialogues. G Venkata Ramana produces this film.

NTR award to Dasari
Dasari Narayana Rao is selected for the prestigious NTR award for the year 2007. Dasari directed powerful films with NTR like Bobbili Puli and Sardar Paparayudu prior to the political entry of legend NTR. Raghupati Venkaiah award for the year 2007 will be given to veteran producer Tammareddy Krishna Murthy. These awards will be presented on the day of Nandi awards presentation.
Housefull director is the most qualified
D Suresh Babu complimented Ajay Bhuyan (director of forthcoming film Housefull) that he is the most qualified director in Telugu film industry with a degree from IIT, IIM and New York Film Academy. Ajay directed Housefull which is thriller. Chandra Siddhardh produced it. Let us hope that Ajay Bhuyan excels in direction and join the list of successful directors with good academic background like Sekhar Kammula and Krish.
Two projects by Konda Krishnam Raju
Konda Krishnam Raju (producer of Sri Ramadasu) has two big films lined up for the year 2009. The first film will start on 5 May in Kerala. This film is going to be a comedy entertainer. There will be another big budget film with popular hero from November.

Siddhardh’s Oye for Summer
Siddhardh is getting ready with a summer release titled ‘Oye’. This film is being directed by the first timer Anand who worked for Bommarillu and a few Bollywood projects. Shamili (Anjali fame) is making her debut as heroine with this film. 40% of the shooting is complete. Universal Media is producing this film. Producer Danayya is aiming for summer release.
Art Beat Capital to produce 3 films
Art Beat Capital that produced last year’s class hit ‘Ashta Chemma’ is going to produce three film this year. Producer Ram Mohan has already announced another project with Ashta Chemma director Mohana Krishna Indraganti. There will be a sports based film introducing a new director. Ram Mohan is planning to shoot and release three films on his banner ‘Art Beat Capital’ this year.
Writer Raja Simha to direct
Writer Raja Simha who worked with Jayant and Paruchuri brothers in the past is going to make his debut as director. He will be direct ML Kumar Chowdary’s next film which launches ML Kumar Chowdary’s son as hero. Raja Simha is currently penning dialogues for Oye (Siddhardh) and Evaraina Epudaina (Varun Sandesh). He worked with Paruchuri brothers from Manasantha Nuvve to Shankar Dada MBBS. The concept of translating telugu samethalu in English for Shankar Dada MBBS was his idea.

NTR song in Tashkent
The unit of NTR’s latest film will travel to Russia to shoot the introduction song of NTR in Tashkent in the choreography of Raju Sundaram from 16 February to 22 February. VV Vinayak directs this film and Vallabhaneni Vamsi produces it. The director shot a song of NTR and Nayana Tara in Annapurna studios recently. Kodali Nani presents it on Vaishnavi Arts banner.
Magadheera music in March 1st week
Music of Ram Charan Teja’s latest film Magadheera (title yet to be confirmed) will be launched in the first week of March. Supreme music bought the audio rights by paying an astronomical amount. Rajamouli directs it and Allu Arvind produces it on Geeta Arts banner. Srihari plays a vital role in this semi period film based on the concept of re-birth. Magadheera will be releasing in the month of April 2009.
Nayana Tara banned and unbanned
It took a ban from Tamil film industry for Nayana Tara to return the 15 lacs advance she has taken a Tamil film industry. Lingu Swamy is set to direct a film and signed Nayana Tara as hero. Nayana Tara could not do the film as it got postponed and she refused to return the advance she has taken. When the producer took the help of industry, they banned Nayana Tara from acting in further Tamil films. Nayana Tara paid the entire advance amount after the ban and the industry lifted the ban on her.

Mahesh film from 18 February
Mahesh’s latest film in the direction of Trivikram will begin its shooting on 18 February 2009 in Rajasthan. This film will be extensively shot in Rajasthan and South Africa. Sunil Patel who worked for Hum Tum and Bachna Ae Haseeno is doing cinematography for this film. Singanamala produces it. This film was supposed to take off on 2 February, but could not as the cinematographer was severely tied up with a bollywood project.
Victory Madhusudhan granddaughter in films
Neelima (photos here) – granddaughter of Victory Madhusudhana Rao – is making her debut as an actress in Adhineta film. Neelima is currently doing two projects in Tamil now. She is acting opposite Dhanush in one film. Incidentally it was Madhusudhana Rao who directed Jagapati Babu’s debut film Simha Swapnam in 1989. And now his granddaughter is making her debut in Telugu as heroine with Jagapati Babu’s film.
Producer blames Archana
Bank film was recently released. This film had Jackie Shriff, Abbas and Archana doing main leads. The producer of Bank film held press meet yesterday and blamed Abbas and Archana for being unprofessional by refusing to promote the film when it is releasing after so much delay. Producer said that Archana and Abbas also troubled them severely during the shoot of the film.

NTR’s future projects
NTR is currently doing a film in the direction of VV Vinayak and it is likely to release in summer of 2009. His next film will be produced by Nallamalupu Bujji and directed by Harish Shankar (Shock fame). NTR will be doing another film with Dil Raju as producer. This film will be directed by Vamsi Paidipalli (Munna fame).
Prabhas’s Darling
Prabhas’s next film in the direction of Karunakaran is titled as Darling. This film will be produced by Bhogavalli Prasad who produced Chatrapati in the past. The muhurat will be done in March and movie will go to floors from April onwards. It will be a different commercial film with love feel.
Good publicity for KIKK film
Nallamalupu Bujji is leaving no stone unturned for the publicity of his 5 February release KIKK. He got 300 RTC buses painted on three sides with KIKK publicity material. He has also printed hundreds of standees of KIKK and sent them across to prospective theaters. The four minute promo song shot exclusively for the film promotion is being aired in national music channels like MTV and Channel V.
Sayameva Jayathe on 13 February
The release of Rajasekhar’s Satyameva Jayathe is shifted from 6 February to 13 February due to lack of availability of theaters. Since King film is completed 50 days on 12th February, lots of theaters will be available for screening other films from 13 February onwards. Siri Media is distributing Satyameva Jayathe.
Jayant’s film shoots in New Zealand
Director Jayant Paranji’s latest film Love 4 Ever is was extensively shot in New Zealand for 34 days. 75% of the shooting is complete so far. This film introduces Ranadeep and Mridula in the main leads. Jayanan Vencent is handling cinematography. Jayanth also produces this film on Laughing Waters Entertainment banner. Love 4 Ever is likely to release on 9 April.

10 lacs for KIKK lyric books
Nallamalupu Bujji is a passionate producer who does not mind spending extra money where it matters. It cost around 10 lacs to print quality lyrics books with accompanying photos for any music album. It is religiously followed in Bollywood. Bujji got lyric books printed for his earlier film Chintakayala Ravi and he did the same for KIKK music too. The buyer of music CD of KIKK will get a glamorous lyric book as a freebie. When producers are curtailing music budget due to fallen audio sales, it is a commendable decision on part of Bujji to prints lyric books by spending 10 lacs extra. KIKK is all set to release on 5th February at 1:01 pm.
Tarun to launch his pub – ON
Actor Tarun is going to launch a pub ‘ON’ soon in road number 2 of Banjara Hills soon. Tarun is one of the young heroes who are regular pub hoppers. Tarun always had business orientation. There were rumors that he entered into real estate when took a break from films for a year. Let’s hope that he would succeed as a pub owner.
Bangaru Babu on 20 February
Jagapati Babu is going to have two releases in a week’s gap. His latest film Siddham is going release on Jagapati Babu’s birthday 12 February. His next film Bangaru Babu is going to release on 20 February. He does not have to worry about the clash of his own films because both these films are targeted at different crowds. Siddham is the story of an encounter specialist where as Bangaru Babu is a village oriented mass film.
