14th
International Children's Film Festival had a flying
start on 14th of November with the promise of Union
Information and Broadcasting Minister S Jaipal Reddy
promising for a huge edifice for the Children's Film
Society of India campus in Hyderabad city. He also
announced that CM YSR announced to grand 50 acres
for setting up a Science Museum for children. Though
India produce around 1000 films year, not many films
are made on Children. He urged the filmmakers to do
films that ignite the imagination of kids. He suggested
that folk tales like Panchatantra should be adapted
and made into feature films. Jaipal Reddy turned down
the suggestion of M Satyanarayana Reddy who suggested
ban on TV serials which can't be viewed by the entire
family. Jaipal Reddy assessed that the artistic freedom
should not be tampered by the Government authorities.

Raja Sekhara Reddy - CM of Andhra Pradesh - inaugurated
the fete at Lalitha Kala Thoranam on the evening of
14th of November. He said that he would be building
a permanent venue for the conduction of International
Film Festival for Children in a land of 10 acres within
the span of 2 years. He assured that the Government
would extend full support to the filmmakers who make
children's films.
Sridevi
who was invited as guest to the function urged the
parents not to confine girls to home. Parents should
identity the talent in their girls and encourage them
to grow up in their fields of interest.
Bollywood
actor Govinda said that kids should extract good from
the films and ignore the bad things.
This
function was also graced by Tarun, Suhasini, G Adiseshagiri
Rao and KV Ramana.
