Dr. Allu Ramalingaiah National Comedian Award - instituted in the memory of Allu Ramalingaiah by Saripally Kondala Rao - was given to master Telugu comedian Dr. Brahmanandam at a function arranged in Harihara Kalabhavan in Hyderabad on the night of 1st October 2005. This award was instituted in the last year and 2004 award was given to Padmasri Mano Rama. Assembly Speaker Suresh Reddy and Chiranjeevi did the honors. Brahmanandam was given a Swarna Kamalam, Prasamsa Patram and a souvenir.

Chiranjeevi said, "It is a gift for any actor to make the people laugh with his histrionics. Brahmanandam is such a blessed actor. Brahmanandam is one of the legendary comedy actors in Telugu films after Relangi, Ramana Reddy, Allu Ramalingaiah and Rajababu.

Brahmanandam said, "It is a daily routine for me to remember Allu Ramalingaiah. I would like to specially thank Jandhyala for giving me life as an actor and Chiranjeevi for encouraging me throughout."

This function was attended by Allu Arvind, G Samaram, Aswini Dutt, Vijaya Bapineedu, Edida Nageswara Rao, Allu Arjun, Gowtam (son of Brahmanandam), Kota, Tanikella, LB Sreeram, MS Narayana, Babu Mohan, AVS, Kondavalasa, KK Sharma, Uttej, Gundu Hanmantha Rao, Siva Reddy, Chittibabu, Hari Kishan, Vasiraju Prakasam and Jayalalitha.
