Music of JD Chakravarthy’s Telugu directorial venture Homam featuring Jagapati Babu, Mamata Mohandas and Madhurima in the main leads was launched at a function organized in Goldspot Adlabs, Punjagutta on the evening of 3 August 2008. JD’s mentor Ramu and distributor/producer Dil Raju graced this occasion as chief guests. The trailer and songs of the film were projected to the full-house crowds in screen 2. A movie festival in August/September for my fans – Jagapati Babu
Jagapati Babu said, “I am here in this stage because of Ram Gopal Varma. He gave me the biggest boost to my career with Gayam film. Lots of people warned me about JD when he narrated me this script. Though I liked the script, I had to listen to those cautioners. But after working for this film I realized that I was a fool for listening to those people who cautioned me against JD Chakravarthy. The film has come out really well. It is going to be a movie festival for all my fans from August to September as I have several releases lined up.”
We are distributing the film for the entire Andhra Pradesh – Dil Raju
Dil Raju said, “It is one of the most exciting days for me as I am setting beside Ram Gopal Varma who made a big name for himself nationwide. My first project as the distributor was Pelli Pandiri. Jagapati Babu was the hero in that film. He called me at that time to give some suggestions about publicity of the film. Jagapati Babu was the first hero I ever met in my life and talked with him. I met JD a few months back for requesting Ram Gopal Varma to release the Parugu title for my film and they graciously gave away the title for us. That time JD asked me to look at the trailers of his film Homam. He then shown a couple of vital scenes in the film and I got interested in the project. I requested him to show me the entire film and they arranged a preview. I saw the film and found it to be little confusing. I went home and put the scenic order on the paper to understand the screenplay. I found the screenplay to be too confusing and suggested JD that he should change the screenplay to make the film liked by broader range of audiences. He gracefully accepted to implement my suggestion. Then I decided to buy it for Nizam area and we made an agreement. I asked my team members Sirish and Laksham to have a look at it. They suggested that we should distribute the film for entire Andhra Pradesh like we did for Happy Days and Ullasangaa Utsahangaa. This film is going to be a superhit.”
Homam is an intense action entertainer – Ram Gopal Varma
Ram Gopal Varma said, “Jagapati Babu is giving me the credit for his career. But I don’t deserve it all. Gayam’s credit goes 25% each to me, my arrogance, my innocence and some luck. I deserve only 25% of it. When I saw the film today I realized that Jagapati Babu has improved tremendously as an actor. I must say that JD is the most talented and intelligent assistant director I had ever worked with. But being creative people, we do tend to think that we are the best. We need people like Dil Raju who watched the film from common audience perspective and give suggestions. I am sure that Homam film will be one of the intense action entertainers ever made in Indian film history.”
Mamata Mohandas said, “Basically Homam is my second film after Yamadonda. But the project got delayed so far and it is releasing now. I am really happy with my work and how the film shaped up.”
Actress Madhurima thanked the unit for providing her lot of comfort. Producer Kiran Kumar Koneru said that he would prefer to speak about the film after the release.
