Radio Mirchi’s impeccable award selection procedure

The second edition of Radio Mirchi South awards will be presented at a star-studded function to be held at Nehru Indoor Stadium in Chennai on the night of 23 July, 2011. The selection process is laborious and fool-proof with international auditor Earnst & Young overseeing the entire procedures. The winners will be selected in a three stage process. The screening jury will shortlist 15 entries for each of 13 categories. The grand jury will select the final five entries. Then there will be a secret ballet for the winner. The entire mechanism is fool-proof and the Radio Mirchi management will also don’t know the winners till the last day.

In order to maintain the sanctity, Radio Mirchi is flying all the five finalists in the 13 categories from Hyderabad to Chennai since the result will be out only on the stage. All other movie and music award organizers in south inform the winners first so that they could grace the occasion.

Radio Mirchi is also spending a lot on this awards. One example is that it has given away an iPod 6G model of 8GB capacity loaded with all Telugu songs released in the last year free to all the 27 jury members (screening and grand). The market price of the this iPod Nano is around Rs. 10,500/-. This process is being followed for all four south Indian languages. One can imagine the kind of investment ENIL is making to enhance the brand image and sanctity.

Hyderabad , July 08, 2011 – It's that time of the year again to celebrate excellence and to felicitate music maestros of our South Indian music industry. Radio Mirchi 98.3 FM presents the second edition of the awards that holds a stunning reflection to the incredible achievements of the music industry through the year 2010 – The   Mirchi Music Awards !! The finale of the only award of its kind, which brings together the music fraternity across all the four southern language film industry – the Mirchi Music Awards, will take place in Chennai on July 23, 2011 at Nehru Indoor Stadium.

This year the music artists from South India get a chance to win 13 awards across categories. Keeping in mind the interest of radio listeners, there will be two special awards – Radio Mirchi Listener's Choice awards given to “Best song of the year” and “Film album of the year” chosen by popular vote.

There will be two set of juries one for screening and short listing of the entries in each category. The shortlisted entries will then be handed to the Grand Jury with whom rests the task of finalizing the winners for each award. Each of the four south Indian languages will have separate Jury panels headed by a Chairman. The Chairman of, Telugu Jury is Mr. D Suresh Babu, the Kannada Jury is Mr. Hamsalekha, the Tamil Jury is Mr. Gangai Amaran, and Mr. Kaithapram Damodaran Namboothiri will be doing the honors for Malayalam industry. The entire process of screening, short listing and selection of winners is audited by Ernst & Young.
